JURONG GATEWAY ROAD Jurong East Bus Interchange #01-09, Singapore 608513
This little Indian stall is a hidden treasure trove of great tasting, authentic South Indian food. Try their freshly prepared dosas, pooris, uppma and idlis in the morning. Or their vazhaka bajjis and masala tea in the evening. What I've listed above are best items from this stall in my opinion. The food at Indian restaurants in little India can't match the taste (for the price) of the food here. Other food items like curd rice, set meals, veg. biriyani, lemon rice, semiya uppma, kichadi, kothu parotta are all also very good if not exceptional. No seating here but the queues are large and people mostly get takeway or eat standing up. I have been eating food from Angu Vilas since 2016. They opened many branches, closed them, and generally moved their stall around a lot.
Wanted a light snack so I only got the vadai ($1) this time, but it was so good - light and crispy on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside; and the crispy exterior didn't taste oily at all, to my surprise. Also, I could taste the distinct spices in every bite, and the softness of the dough could almost match that of a Pandan cake. Very delightful and oh so satisfying. ?
Their Parottas (Prata) are good. It tastes authentic like the ones they put in Madurai or south Tamin Nadu. They serve this 7pm onwards and the kuruma curry it comes with is good. One of the best parotta / prata I've tasted in Singapore. 2 pieces with curry for $3 only. A steal! My friends also love it and I recommend the locals to give it a try. This is a relieving and a comfort food. A stress buster for sure after a hard day. However, unconventionally it's only takeout. But commuters are free to eat nearby, just don't make a mess and be responsible! Throw your rubbish into the dustbin the stall provide. Their other foods include Gobi Manchurian, Masala Dosa / Thosai, Poori, Idiyappam, Vada, Idli, Samosa, Vegetable Cutlet, Indian Sweets (Alwa, Laddu, Kesari and the Indian authentic ones). All of these are affordable priced. Bless them for keeping it low for our workers to be able to eat their home food. The stall also works hard and opens early at 7 am. Even if it's late night around 11pm the stall is still available just that they'll be cleaning the stall. But would still sell leftover food. So those who no choice to eat proper food late night can eat here. They also have Maggi which tastes like the Indian version of Maggie Mee. Must try is the Chilli Bajji (Milagai Bajji). The food options that sells well just goes on!
This is one of the most authentic and delicious vegetarian Indian food spots, especially for those craving a taste of home. It's great that they keep prices affordable for workers and everyone. You can get a piping hot dinner if you go around 7 PM.
We spotted this place at jurong interchange and ordered a lot of stuff (its takeaway only). Every single thing (pongal, vada, prata, korma) turned out quite tasty. The dosa was amazing! Tastiest south indian food I've had in Singapore for those prices.
