[Updated 18 January 2021]

As Malaysia continues to battle the pandemic with a second lockdown, the food industry is once more taking a hit from the knock-on effect of the no dine-in rule.

To show support for local eateries in Kuala Lumpur, there's no better time to have your favourite food delivered to your doorstep - safely and conveniently. While some eateries are closed until the movement control order has been lifted, there are a few establishments out there that are continuously serving good food for your tummy. Just log into your food delivery app (such as foodpanda and GrabFood) and have it delivered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! We have a few recommendations that you can start with.

Disclaimer: Do note that these eateries may only be available in certain areas of Kuala Lumpur as most food delivery apps are configured to show restaurants near you. For anyone staying or working outside of Kuala Lumpur, we recommend that you contact these eateries and check if they provide in-house delivery or whether you can place your takeaway orders in advance.

Not to be confused with murtabak (Indian-Muslim or Arabic stuffed flatbreads), martabak is a popular Indonesian street food, which is similar to apam balik. For those who haven't tried it, place your order at Tetangga Kita! Last year, they created martabak Samyang, inspired by the famous spicy Korean noodles. If you're leaning towards sweet martabak flavours, there's Ovalmaltine, red velvet Oreo, Nutella and more. 4. 3 Budak Gemok

Founded by three relatives with a strong passion for food, 3 Budak Gemok is a popular staple in the Kuala Lumpur food scene. The meal may look simple, but the burst of flavours from ayam masak kicap will surprise you. Coated with a homemade sauce that is prepped with onions, ginger and various spices, it's usually simmered for a few hours before it's being poured on their fried chicken. For a spicy kick, it comes with a side of cili gesek consisting of freshly-grounded chili kampung, Thailand chili and Vietnamese chili. This triple threat will set your tastebuds on fire (in a very yummy way), and you've been warned.

7. EID Authentic Korean Cuisine

While EID is not located exactly in KL, it had to be included in our list. If you've been to Seoul, you would have definitely been to the original Eid in Itaewon for some of the best halal Korean food in town. Thankfully, those of us who have yet to step foot in Korea or would like to relive our days there can get authentic Korean food here at Eid in its various locations! Managed by the Korean-Muslim husband-and-wife team of Mr Yu Hyunwoo (Saad) and Ms Han Narae (Nadia Han) one of the best things about Eid is that they produce their own gochujang (some gochujang brands have added alcohol), which is an essential ingredient in Korean cooking! Don't forget to try their bulgogijapchaedakganjeong and tteokbokki!
