For the uninitiated, croons are croissant shaped to resemble a full moon. Named after its circular shape, these croissant moons comprise crème fillings encased in a buttery, flaky pastry. It was first seen at Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery, a French bakery in New York City! Other bakeries in Singapore have created its own take on the decadent trend, however it wasn't halal, but now at GAMO, YOU CAN ?

GAMO has come up with 2 unique flavours - kaya and black sesame! First up, the Kaya Croon pays homage to a classic local favourite with a twist! Imagine the sweet, rich flavours of kaya plus crispy, flaky pastry swirling in your mouth; it's no wonder we love our kaya so much ? Their Black Sesame Croon is also a popular choice among patrons, who rave about the warm, nutty black sesame flavor ? However, all good things like these comes in small portions - they only make about 30 pieces every Saturday and Sunday, so head down to get yours early!

There are also other croissants that will satisfy any pastry lover. If you love it savoury, the Kani Crab Mentai Croissant should be on the top of your list? The flaky croissant comes in thick with generous servings of mentaiko sauce, and strips of kani (imitation crab meat). Seaweed is sprinkled all over for the added umami taste. Oui, oui, it truly sounds oishi! ?

For something that's a little fruitier yet still heavenly, don't go without trying the Strawberry Guava Mochi Tart. The tart comes with a strawberry guava curd made using the best Japanese strawberries in season, topped with strawberry caramel and homemade milk mochi! Pleasantly sweet, and irresistibly chewy - enough said ? Since tickets to Japan right now are over the roof, perhaps this could give you a slice of the country you miss so much ?

For drinks, you can expect your cafe classics such as Matcha Latte, White Coffee and more! Here's more good news: this F1 weekend (30th September - 2nd October), they will be extending their opening hours till 8pm ?

GAMO is truly a rarity in Singapore, being one of the few halal bakeries-cum-cafes that serve Japanese/French-inspired desserts! Time to clear all your weekend plans and queue early for those gorgeous-looking croons - your boss/partner/mum/kids would have to wait ?
