Sweet Spots is an initiative by the Museum of Ice Cream (yes, that museum!) to collate the best desserts that Singapore has to offer. They decided to come up with a guide as, despite Singapore being a food-topia, there isn't any comprehensive guide to the best desserts this island has to offer! We'll be giving you a breakdown on what the guide is and looking at some of the Muslim-friendly desserts that are on the list!
What is it?

The guidebook is basically a rundown of all things desserts in Singapore! These desserts focus on not only international or big brands, but also traditional and other small businesses that serve delectable desserts around the island!
The book is separated into 5 sections: North, South, East, West and Central. You can have a dessert hopping day out at the different areas of Singapore if you would like!
Judging Criteria
The judging criteria includes:
- How many time the establishment was nominated
- Quality of taste
- Presentation
- Repeat visit factor, and
- Value for money
They will then be awarded 1 to 3 SPOONS depending on how best they perform through these criteria!
Who is on it?
There are quite a few noteworthy desserts that are on the guide! One of which is Nasty Cookie which was awarded 1 SPOON. Other brands that are on it are Fluff Stack, Yole, Fruit Paradise and K's Keria! Honeybee is also on the list with 2 SPOONS with their iconic ice-cream with a honeycomb stuck in it.
There's also Kind Kones which will be featured in the Singapore Dessert Festival held at MoIC. They serve a variety of desserts which do not have alcohol or gelatine in them.
Birds of Paradise was featured on the list with 3 SPOONS as well! Their star ice -cream is the White Chrysanthemum Ice Cream with Thyme Cone! All their ice-cream is free from alcohol and gelatin too!
Le Matin Patisserie is on it too, and if you're wondering on what you can order from there you can check out our article here!
Museum of Ice Cream Collaboration
For the first time ever, Museum of Ice Cream (MoIC) has given the green light for third-party members to host inside their museum. These will be 5 of the 3 SPOONS winners who will showcase their award-winning desserts. And the best part is, it's unlimited!
This is a one-time event that will be held on 28 October 2023 and tickets are on sale right now, on the MoIC website!
Here are the 5 winners that you can expect to try during this event!
- Kind Kones
- White Marble
- Rempapa
- Tigerlily
- ADDA
As MoIC is committed to making sure food is accessible to everyone, they have picked and choose desserts that are delicious but also available to most visitors to try!
The Singapore Dessert Festival Ticket will cost $52 and starts with the usual MoIC introduction, where you will be given an opportunity to give yourself an ice cream themed name and interact with the many exhibitions in the first two rooms!
1. Kind Kones

The first dessert that you will be able to try is by Kind Kones! They are a socially and environmentally-aware brand that uses plant-based ingredients for their desserts! Their brand is vegan and gluten-free; hence, those with allergies can rest assured and enjoy the delicious food! The dessert that awarded them 3 SPOONS is the Almond Brittle Fudge. The ice-cream is made from coconut and cashew milk, whereas the fudge is made from dairy-free chocolate, sugar and chia seeds. It was a delicious, decadent dessert that was rich in flavour. Their ice-cream was a highlight as it had a hint of coconut but pairs amazingly with the brownie.

They also offer another dessert which is their Flourless Sweet Potato Brownie which is a brownie made up of sweet potatoes paired with the ice-cream from the previous dessert!
Halal status: Vegan (No alcohol was used)

2. White Marble

The White Marble showcases their Medjool Date Cake, which is a moist date cake with butterscotch and chantilly cream. It does however contain alcohol.
There are other desserts that you can eat to your heart's content after this!
3. Rempapa

Rempapa by Damian D'Silva dishes out traditional desserts for us to try! Damien D'Silva is one of the judges on Masterchef Singapore who focuses on traditional dishes. They offered two traditional kuehs (dessert in Malay): Kueh Salat and Kueh Kosui. The recipe was handed down by his grandmother too. Kueh Salat has a butterfly pea flower glutinous rice with a creamy pandan pudding at the top. Additionally, he also created a Kueh Kosui that has hints of gula melaka in it! As you can see, the desserts are not only limited to international, huge brands but also to traditional desserts!
Halal status: Muslim-friendly (No alcohol or gelatine was used)

4. Tigerlily Patisserie

Tigerlily Patisserie is inspired by nature. Their flavours are punchy and floral, and you can try them out through their spotlight dessert: The Beehive Entremet in MoIC. This dessert is visually appealing, with a parfait dessert with a yuzu mousse shaped like a beehive encased in chocolate with filo pastry in it. A honeycomb-shaped chocolate-covered wafer is placed on top of the beehive with a delicate chocolate flower and a bee. It's an adorable and Insta-worthy dessert that you can enjoy!
Halal status: Muslim-friendly. They use fish gelatine for their dessert. No alcohol was used.

5. ADDA

To finish off your dessert journey, we have ADDA. ADDA means "gathering place for conversation" in Hindi and their food celebrates contemporary Indian street food. This can be seen from their spotlighted dessert: Gulab Jamun Cheesecake. It's a Gulab Jamun (a milky ball that has been deep-fried and coated in sugar) encased in a light, tart cheesecake. It was a light and delicious dessert that rounded up the entire experience: Sweet, Unique and Delicious!
Halal status: Muslim-friendly (No gelatine or alcohol is used)
