The Geylang Serai Hari Raya Bazaar this year has been cancelled yet again for the second year. That's according to People's Association (PA) in their media release today.

PA said that "in view of the evolving COVID-19 situation, physical bazaars and trade fairs, which traditionally attract large crowds, will not resume". But if you've been missing your annual Ramadan Bazaar, the good news is that the Geylang Serai Bazaar will be held online on a digital platform this year.

Digital Bazaar

Taking place from 9 Apr to 13 May 2021, the online bazaar will be organised by Wisma Geylang Serai and it aims to celebrate the culture and heritage of the Malay-Muslim community with a variety of experiences. There'll also be chances for people to take up new skills and bring their businesses online, such as the digital bazaars last year.

Some of the programmes that you can look forward to on the online bazaar will be things like music, comedy, baking, cooking and exercise videos which will be on Wisma Geylang Serai's social media platforms. There'll also be an E-Buka Puasa show and a Hari Raya show.

Hari Raya Light-Up to go as planned

The good news is that the annual Hari Raya Light-Up will still take place! That means that you can still admire the street lights and decorations at Geylang Serai from 9 Apr to 23 May 2021. You can also watch the launch of the light-up which will be streamed on social media.

While we can't wait for the return of the Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar, this is for the better as we fight COVID-19. Let us know what you think of this in the comments section!

P.S. Miss Ramadan bazaars? You can still make these Ramadan bazaar treats at home.
