NEW: This Muslim-Owned Restaurant In SG Opens First Outlet Serving Briyani, Waffles And More

Good news everyone! We've got more halal food in Singapore to report to you: there's a new hawker-style concept restaurant, Gila Makan, at Tanjong Pagar for you to check out! ?

They opened their 1st outlet at 100 AM Mall on 1st June! Similar to Hawkers' Street in Ion Orchard, Gila Makan was created to cater to the Muslim community in Singapore. Gila Makan also collaborates with Social Kitchen (a social enterprise) to employ mentally-challenged individuals who will help out with back-of-the-house operations! There are six stalls for you to choose from: Mama Lemak By Beach Road Nasi Lemak, Brani By Briyani 47, Steel Pot By Mooteow, Hoppers By The Ceylonese Affair, Walf & Co. By Wild Market and a drinks stall!

1. Mama Lemak By Beach Road Nasi Lemak

From the people behind Beach Road Nasi Lemak at Wild Market Shaw Towers, Mama Lemak offers classic options like Nasi Lemak With Chicken Wing, Nasi Lemak With Sambal Cuttlefish, and unique options such as the vegetarian-friendly Nasi Lemak With Tofu. They also have side dishes like Otah Fries and Quail Egg Sambal ?

2. Brani By Briyani 47

Craving Indian food? Brani By Briyani 47 serves various Bangladeshi-style briyani like Mutton Briyani and Fish Briyani. If you're feeling brave, take your tastebuds to the next level with their Devil Chicken Briyani! ?

3. Steel Pot By Mooteow

Mooteow was known for serving up Teochew-style beef kway teow at Boat Quay, and you can now try the halal version! ?Expect classics such as Beef Kway Teow With Sliced Beef, with Beef Ball and Mixed Beef With Tendon.

4. Hoppers By The Ceylonese Affair

For smaller yet filling meals, try these Sri-Lankan style appam, known as hoppers! From sweet options such as Ice Cream Hopper and Banana Chocolate to savoury ones like Bulls Eye Hoppers and Egg Pepper Hoppers With Cheeni Chambal, you'll be spoilt for choice!

Lastly, what's a hawker store without our Singapore-style Western food! Choose from a wide array of options such as Fried Chicken Aglio Olio, Mushroom Aglio Olio, All Day Breakfast and desserts like Ice Cream Wafls ?

Apart from the usual beverages, you definitely have to try out their unique drink menu such as Gula Melaka Coffee, Bandung Shake, Iced Horlicks Dinosaur, and Root Beer Float to complement your mains

They've mentioned that this will be the first outlet, so we're hoping for more across the island soon! If you're heading to CBD, there's now more halal food for you to enjoy to go gila about ?

Halal status: Muslim-owned. We spoke to them and we've been informed that all of the food served at this restaurant comes from one kitchen that only uses halal-certified ingredients.
