[Updated: 7 Aug 2021] One of the best things about Singapore's culinary scene is how it encompasses dishes from across the region. This 2021 National Day long weekend, we're craving yummy Chinese food and what better dish to start with than the iconic favourite: Hainanese Chicken Rice! Whether steamed or roasted, we've rounded up this list of halal chicken rice in Singapore! (in no particular order)

1. Fitra Chicken Rice

It would be impossible to make this list without including the Fitra chicken rice chain. 😁 With around 20 outlets across the island tucked away in hawker centres or food courts, this is one chain that’s a reliable source for a familiar dish. Although we may all have our own preferences for a particular outlet, a simple plate of Fitra is a reminder that you don’t need to eat fancy to have a great meal.

2. Evertop Chicken Rice

Open since 1989, Evertop has built up its loyal fanbase over the decades with its succulent chicken meat, mouth-watering rice, and their special achar  (pickled vegetables) that seal the deal! They have 2 outlets in Joo Chiat and Clementi, so no matter where you stay in Singapore you're never too far away from an iconic meal to make your day a little brighter.

The halal branch of Tong Fong Fatt Chicken Rice, this eatery at Bedok Corner has passionate fans that will swear by its taste as Michelin-worthy. Apart from the usual praises for the roasted and steamed chicken meat, we’ve heard that fans of chicken gizzards might really enjoy TFF’s version. Established in 1966, MacKenzie Rex (sometimes also known as Rex MacKenzie) is one of the oldest eateries selling halal-certified Hainanese Chicken Rice! Chili sauce is one of the must-have condiments to top your plate of chicken rice, adding that tingling kick that makes the chicken meat taste even better. 6. Sedap Corner Nasi Ayam Hainan

Hawker centres truly hide some of the best gems in the world, and this humble Bukit Batok establishment is one of them! There's no need to venture out of the heartlands for some good quality food when you have juicy, tender chicken waiting for you around the corner. 😋 Add on some braised egg or tofu to complete your meal, and it's enough to keep you going for the whole day! 7. Tang Tea House

8. Dajie Niang Dou Fu & Hainan Chicken Rice

 Dajie is another eatery that’s not known for chicken rice - it’s actually famous for its varieties of yong tau foo! 9. Enak-Enak Hong Kong Tea House

Perhaps their most famous outlet is the one at East Coast Park with an alfresco dining area by the sea 😍Instead of just ordering their roasted or steamed chicken rice, you can order some siew mai, steamed golden sand bun or Shanghai dumplings as a side dish too! 10. New Hawa Restaurant

 If you live in the east, you might probably have heard of New Hawa Restaurant as they have a few outlets around the east. Many of their fans grew up with their chicken rice which is known to be tender, with amazing chilli. To spice things up, you can even savour your plate of chicken rice with cheese, black pepper or lemon sauce. Opened in 2018, their humble stall in Ang Mo Kio serves yummy plates of chicken rice, with chicken that's crispy and succulent. It's accompanied by a spicy sauce too, so don't miss out on it! Calling all those staying in Yishun, here's your chance to tuck into De Sinn Chicken Rice's specialty poached chicken and have it with their yummy ginger sauce. If you're craving for chicken that's moist and tender, then De Sinn will definitely not disappoint. Not to mention that their chicken rice is also drizzled with their Chef's specialty sauce!
