It's that time of the year again when we gather and countdown to the end of the year! The fireworks are always a spectacle to behold but seats is hard to get to watch them. Here are some free places you can head to (psst.. some of them are in the heartlands too!)

If you're looking for places to watch the Marina Bay fireworks, here are a few free palces you can go to! Do note that it will be crowded so come early to grab your preferred seating area!

1. Helix Bridge

Helix bridge

One of the best places to view the fireworks up close, the bridge is the nearest to the Floating Platform where the countdown will be held. In addition to watching the beautiful fireworks, you'll be able to enjoy the music and performance as well. Do note that there might be police who will ask you to move along so time your crossing of the bridge to match with the countdown if you can't stay there!

2. Marina Bay Area

Marina Bay fireworks

The whole area will be lit up with fireworks and is arguably the best place to be to get a great view of the fireworks. If you're planning on coming to this area, don't only head to the Merlion area but also head down to the Red Dot Design Museum area. There is ample area for you to sit and since it's directly opposite the Floating Platform, you can get a pretty nice overarching view of the fireworks with the city skyline. Do come early though as people will start booking their seats as early as the afternoon!

Psst.. we have some halal food around the Marina Bay area that you can grab while you wait for the fireworks!

3. Marina Barrage

Enjoy the sea breeze and the fireworks at night from Marina Barrage, a great place to have a picnic! You can come early and grab a nice spot while you have a perfect picnic day. You can even fly a kite and maybe head down to Satay By The Bay nearby if you run out of food. It's a great place to enjoy the fireworks.

4. Gardens By The Bay (Bay East Garden)

Gardens By The Bay

The area is brimming with activities such as the annual Christmas Wonderland so if you're trying to watch the fireworks, you can walk around the SuperTrees or head to some of the more open fields to grab a spot. The great thing about this place is the free light show at the SuperTrees that you can watch while waiting to pass the time to watch the fireworks.

5. Esplanade

A great place to grab some food whilst waiting for the fireworks to start! The area is part of the Marina Bay area so you can head down to the waterfront to view the spectacle or head up to the Esplanade's higher levels to their 'balcony' to get an unobstructed view.

6. Mount Faber Peak

Arguably further away from the city centre, if you're looking for a less crowded place, you can head here to watch the fireworks from one of the highest peaks in Singapore. You can see the fireworks light up the night sky while being surrounded by nature.

Heartlands
