The Urban Museum or UR-MU is a one-of-a-kind quirky contemporary art museum. Nestled in the bohemian sector comprising quaint residential streets with low-rise 1950s modernist style architecture. Somewhat forgotten over the years, the neighbourhood is finding a new vibe in the music, food, entertainment and now the arts.

UR-MU opened its doors in early 2022, which quickly became one of the best tourist attractions in KL, as it is the first of its kind in the city to house a private, contemporary art collection. It’s definitely something to add to your list of things to do in KL!

The exhibited works at UR-MU reflect the collector. They are regional, and eclectic and convey some of the aspirations and moods of the recent era. Works from the collector’s architectural journey form an important part of this collection.

UR-MU features artworks across 10 themed gallery spaces, featuring Sens-Asia, People, Kampung Kita, Power Play, Raksasa (Monsters), Superheroes, Framing Modernity, Structure, Made's Garden and the Sculpture Lounge. A roof-top sculpture garden and a Balinese garden to commemorate the late landscape maestro from Bali Pak Made Wijaya completes the Museum.

UR-MU, like all forms of art, is for all to enjoy. Take your time to visit, mull, be intrigued, be captivated, be inspired or just simply soak in the indescribable ability of art to draw you in, transform and translate you to other places and times!

Do note that you need to buy the ticket online prior to your visit.
