Well, I may not be able to give you some cash for you to spend (though that would be lovely eh?) but here are some insights on the best places for a shopping spree while you are in Hong Kong.

Known very well as a shopping paradise, there are in fact numerous places you can visit for shopping in Hong Kong. It can get overwhelming if you intend to cover every spot in your itinerary, but the great news is you can prioritize it according to your interest!

For starters, here are 5 shopping spots worthy of your wallet, so to speak ?

[Only have 72 hours to spend in Hong Kong? Here's the perfect way to spend it!]

1. Stash up on fabrics, sewing and craft supplies at Ki Lung Street, Sam Shui Po

If you are into hoarding fabrics (like I am) or you are into crafty things (read: leather crafting or sewing) this is a definite place to go!

Ki Lung Street boasts rows and rows of fabric, crafts, leather and sewing supply shops, and you will pretty much go crazy for it!

Even though many shops sell fabrics by swatches and by order, the real bargains are actually at the ones that sell by yardage.

Expect gorgeous chiffons sold from only HKD15 per yard and beautiful linens selling from HKD10 per yard! If you spend enough time to browse through, chances are you will discover some rare finds (with a good bargain of course!).

Opening hours: 10am-10pm, Monday to Friday. Most shops are closed on the weekends

How to get there: Take the MTR (Tsuen Wan line) and alight at Sam Shui Po station. Take the A2 exit. Ki Lung Street is located nearby the exit; you just have to do some walking to get there. Check out the map below to get a better idea:

2. Discover unusual oriental items at the Temple Street Night Market

Temple Street Night Market may sound like another flea market selling cheap knock-off items, but the special thing about it is that they also have quite a selection of oriental collectibles that may not be easily found anywhere else.

Take these embossed leather bound notebooks for example:

Just remember to do some serious negotiation on the prices; chances are high that you may get the price that you ask for (as long as it is reasonable that is!).

Opening hours: Daily from 4pm-12am

How to get there: Get on the MTR (Tsuen Wan line) and alight at Jordan station. Take the C2 exit and walk along Bowring St.

3. Get out of the city and discover something different at the Stanley Market

Get on a bus and head on to Stanley, a little beach town just after Repulse Bay to discover gorgeous seascapes and browse through its little market.

Stanley Market might sell something a little different from the ones you find at the city, such as this little linen home furnishing shop, cute children's costumes (they have almost all superheroes and princesses you can think of!) or just cheap and attractive clothing for adults and children.

Opening hours: Daily from 10am-6.30pm

How to get there: The easiest way is to go to the Bus Terminus at MTR Central Station and look for bus No.6 (this route will take you through a beautiful view of Repulse Bay and the surrounding hills). Alight at the “Stanley Village Road” stop and cross the little street to find Stanley Market.

4. Get a pair (or two pairs) of new sneakers at the Sneaker Street (Fa Yuen Street)

Some even say that the prices here are really low compared to anywhere else in the world, and they also have collections that you might not find easily elsewhere.

Opening hours: Daily from 11am-11pm

How to get there: Take the MTR (Tsuen Wan line) and alight at Mong Kok Station. Take exit E2 and walk away from the exit for around three blocks.

5. Get overcharged at the Gadget Street (Apliu Street, Sam Shui Po)
