If you're on the lookout for a hidden gem serving up some of the best halal Thai food around, then you've definitely got to check out Kohnangkam, a Muslim-owned eatery that's been serving up Southern Thai cuisine since 2006!

Located in the popular Bugis/Kampong Glam area, Kohnangkam is definitely a standout amongst the other halal eateries in the area for both its longevity and how amazing all of its dishes are. ? The simple shophouse facade may be easy to overlook at first - but this restaurant is so popular it can be packed to the brim on weeknights too!

The cosy atmosphere and wide variety of dishes are just 2 of the reasons why it's actually become a popular dining spot for our office. ? The restaurant exterior may look small, but it's actually big enough on the inside to handle reservations for large groups of over 10 people - perfect for a gathering or family dinner!

If you're trying their food for the first time, here are some the dishes you absolutely have to order for an unforgettable meal:

Their Sea Bass (S$38/fish) is a signature dish that will be the perfect centrepiece for your meal. Not only can you choose to have it steamed or fried, but with a variety of gravies and sauces for an additional kick. Try the classic Tom Yum version, or go for something lighter with Fried Fish In Mango Salad!

#HHWT Tip: If you're dining as a group, order the family set meals perfect for 4-7 pax! There are 3 different sets to choose from, and they include mango salad, tom yum, drinks and more! ?

For something fried and crispy, you've got to try their Hatyai Chicken (from S$8.50). The chicken is marinated until it's juicy and tender even after being deep-fried, and it comes with a Thai sweet chilli dip for an extra kick! The Pandan Chicken (from S$8.50) is another option to consider - the pandan leaves make it fragrant and aromatic. ?

You can't talk about Thai food without having tom yum! ? Kohnangkam has 2 versions of this classic dish, Tom Yum Nam Prik (from S$9) which is the fiery red version you might be used to seeing, and Clear Tom Yum (from S$9) which is a more traditional version with stronger citrusy tones and a lighter taste.

If you're looking for an ala carte meal rather than dishes to share, you won't have to worry as they have a whole range of rice and noodle dishes. The Stewed Beef Noodle (from S$7.50) knocks it out of the park with its dark, spicy broth and tender slices of beef. ?

What're you waiting for - call up your friends and let them know it's time for a Thai feast! ?
