Adaptive reuse of the original sandstone bridge built in 1869 that once crossed the river here - the new bridge was opened in 1969. Has some historical information plaques and photos of the original bridge, plus remnants of the original tramway. Interesting slice of Brisbane’s history and easy to stop by if you’re wandering along the river’s edge. Close to the city for food and drink.
This is a small and often overlooked part of Brisbanes history. A remnant of historical connections and a showcase of engineering prowess. To step through a now somewhat modest arch and see Brisbane in its modern glory is quite a thing.!
