Fantastic history of the house brought to life by the phenomenal tour guide, Joanne, who was passionate, dedicated and very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the detailed explanations given about many of the artefacts, and the tour answered many questions I had about Penang. Would definitely recommend this museum to everyone I know.

Recommended to contact Joanne in advance as it’s open to private tours only Joanne was knowledgeable and generously shared about Yeap Chor Ee, and the migration history of Penang. The exhibits were well maintained with informative signs.

Very enjoyable museum. Found this on Google maps knew nothing of Yeap Chor Ee. But the curator Joanne was insightful and knowledgeable about the family history. And the history of Chinese immigration in the region and beyond. Well worth a visit . Also it is close to other attractions easy to visit. Thank Joanne.

Thanks to Joanne our knowledgeable guide for the invaluable information and narrative. There were only our group of 4 adults, so it was like a private tour. Featuring intricate mother-of-pearl inlaid furniture, fine embroidery pieces with various bird motifs and artifacts of the Yeap family. The higher floors tell the intimate story of a Chinese immigrant who worked his way from a humble barber business to becoming a successful businessman and banker. Also heartening to hear how the family has supported many others in the community with philanthropic acts and the establishment of Wawasan Open University. I highly recommend this tour.

A must visit to understand the history of early Chinese business community in Penang. The late Yeap Chor Ee's story, from a barber to a business tycoon, is truly inspiring.
