Petulu, Ubud, Gianyar Regency, Bali 80561, Indonesia
There are three places to watch the herons from, two of which serve drinks and are very relaxing, the watchpoint 3 would be best for any visiting that have accessibility requirements as there is a wider staircase at the watchpoint. The heron land in all the trees in the village at times around sunset - there is hundreds of them. Literally 100s.
Went here twice, at night and at the afternoon. Both using a scooter, riding slowly through the village road. Inevitably i got heron poop on myself, but the experience was very exhilarating nonetheless. There were hundreds of them herons just hanging out on the roadside trees.
Beautiful and peaceful place to be. You can watch so many herons sitting on trees and in their natural behaviour. The roads are easy from ubud however fairly challenging if you are coming from the opposite direction e.g. pura mengening temple, however if you are up for adventure you will get some great views of the river, rice terraces etc.
Small unfinished viewpoint, there is no any service or tourist places, but you can go inside for free and see herons in their wild life . We spent 15 min
