Incredible jungle trekking experience, with trails leading through lush rainforest, mangroves, and beautiful coastal scenery. The trails are well-marked, catering to various difficulty levels. You might spot unique wildlife like macaques and monitor lizards ? along the way and Sea Turtle ? Conservation Centre, where you can learn about local turtle preservation efforts. Perfect for nature lovers, this trek combines tropical wilderness with stunning ocean views.

The park has a few hiking paths through the jungle. They are quite remarkable. Cicadas make a loud background choir. It is cooler than the streets of Georgetown. They do not see a lot of maintenance and during rain the clay soil may be very slippery in the step sections. The entrance fee of 50 myr per foreigner is steep for what you get. There is a nice paved path in the beginning close to the entrance. It feels great to not be hunted by cars and scooters. You can hire a boat to skip the hike half way or completely if you want to.

A beautiful place for a hike. About an 8km round trip to Turtle beach and not too challenging if you have good shoes and a reasonable level of fitness. Entrance fee to the park was about 50RM each, but happy to pay that to help with the upkeep. Take a reusable water bottle and help to keep the place clean. Turtle beach was pristine, let's keep it that way. ?

We visited Penang National Park on Saturday. It was quite crowded, and there was a waiting line at the ticket counter. There is a QR code for registration, so buying a ticket can take some time. A map of all the trekking routes is available. Unfortunately, the trek to Monkey Beach was closed, but boats were still available to take visitors there. We followed the signs and trekked up to Kerachut Beach. The trail wasn’t too muddy but was slightly slippery in some areas. Be careful when grabbing onto trees, as some have sharp thorns that can hurt. Bringing plenty of water is essential for trekking under the warm sun. For our return, we decided to take a boat. Since we didn’t buy tickets at the entrance, we negotiated with a boat driver who had available space. He offered us a price of RM 170 for three people. However, I recommend buying boat tickets in advance, as boats can fill up quickly. The views from the boat on the way back were stunning. This is definitely an interesting activity to do while visiting Penang!
