57 Rue Cuvier, 75005 Paris, France
Located right in the heart of Paris, variety of flora and fauna. Good place to spend time with family. The zoo had few rare species too and good quality explanation.
Zoo appeared to be quite popular with Parisians at the time of school break, so there was a line to get in April mid-week afternoon. Even if you are not a big fan of zoos, it still makes sense to visit it as an extension of botanical garden, it has very nice landscaping and a few animals that are not typically found in many zoos.
A lovely little zoo in the heart of Paris! I’ve visited this zoo several times with my kids, and it’s always a nice experience. It’s a relatively small zoo located inside the beautiful Jardin des Plantes. There are several interesting and well-cared-for animals, and the overall atmosphere is very relaxed. If you can, try to visit on a weekday or when French school holidays are over—it’s much quieter. You can easily spend 3–4 hours walking around. The best part? When you leave the zoo, you’re right in the Jardin des Plantes—a stunning garden you definitely shouldn’t miss!
We happened across the Menagerie by accident, saw the park and walked in. Then saw the menagerie and decided to visit. It was much larger and more comprehensive than we originally expected. We visited for nearly 3 hours. Lots to see, great to see new signs in English, it really added to our visit. Some animal enclosures seemed small for the animals, but it clear to see the park making changes. Some incredible animals that we have never seen anywhere else. Lots of amazing and interesting buildings, which add to the visit. It was busy with children but on the most part they were well looked after by adults. I had to stop a couple of school children pulling up flowers. My only negative, is that some entrances to buildings and exhibits are not all that clear. Such as the tree kangaroos and the large aviary. These entrances are really hidden.
