Complex Bali Tourism Development Corporation / ITDC Area Block P, Benoa, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Beautiful collection. Well worth spending an hour there especially if you’re staying in the area. It was very quiet in the morning, but be aware there are lots of art loving mosquitoes. Ticket price is reasonable ( 100,000 IDR ), merchandising overpriced.
My second visit here, and this time enjoyed 2 hours viewing the art collection from Indonesia and some other Pacific countries. The variety of the collection amazed me, even though I think the lighting is a bit too dark to allow me to enjoy some of the painting's vibrant colors. However, I appreciate there are some benches inside the gallery for me to sit and enjoy the vibe of being surrounded by well-curated art collection. The museum has a cafe, and the museum complex is surrounded by large gardens.
Really enjoyed seeing the Bali-related/themed collection in particular, which is why we came, although there were some great pieces in the broader pan-Asia Pacific region galleries as well (from some unexpected little Gaugin statues and prints to a large Buffet painting). The Le Mayeur selection was fantastic - displayed to greater success than in the Le Mayeur house museum in Sanur, it must be said. I wished they had a few more examples of Bonnet's work on display, but the range of artists active in Bali was in the main a decent sampler, including of Smit. Nice to visit this museum to supplement other key art museums around Bali, such as Neka/Agung Rai/Rudana in Ubud. The rooms are hot with ineffectual fans, as others have said, but that is par for the course in Bali and they have their reasons. The ticket price (currently IDR 100k for foreigners) is also cheaper than some of the aforementioned Ubud art museums. Also be aware that car dropoffs within this Nusa Dua zone (e.g. by Grab) incur an IDR 10k charge as well. Thanks to the Museum Pasifika team for a morning well spent ?
It's a beautiful museum with a great collection, I would spend more time if the museum had air conditioning and more seats in the rooms. I think they can have some temporary exhibitions with new local artists or historical exhibitions. But the collection is pretty good. I really enjoyed it
Great collection of cultural art from a range of artists around the world. Great way to visualise different art styles and interpretations of a variety of cultures within the context of Indonesia.
