The Museum of Chinese Australian History is a great educational place to learn about Chinese Australian history. There is an interesting exhibition that will teach you about Chinese migration to Australia during the times of the Gold Rush. Throughout the museum, there are some fascinating and interesting pieces of art and overall, the museum is a great place to visit and learn about the history of Chinese Australian people and culture.
This is a great little museum, packed with interesting items to look at and things to read. It’s split over multiple levels, and has a fun little walkthrough section on one level. The staff were polite and friendly, and it was one of the cheapest activities we’ve done in Melbourne. We went on a Saturday morning and there were only a couple of other families there, so it was a nice break from the crowds!
This museum is definitely worth a visit It’s only $12.50 for adults and is a wonderful account of the Chinese history in Australia Just quick walk through Chinatown and down a side lane and a whole new world opens up The staff are really informative and happy to chat There are several rooms to go through explaining the history including the famous gold rush to descendants. There are many artifacts at I see and let’s not forget the magical dragons A great way to spend a little time. Perfect for kids also
Hidden Gem? We had a great time exploring the different exhibits and, most of all, the mining tunnels.
It was a great experience to learn about the history of the Chinese community in Australia. The exhibition of the gold mining era was amazing! It's giving 'haunted house theme park' and educational at the same time.
