159 Oxford Terrace, Christchurch Central City, Christchurch 8011, New Zealand
The bronze sculpture of Kate Sheppard along with the other five women was unveiled on1993 to commemorate 100 years since New Zealand women won the right to vote
Its a great historical place but wish had more things than just a sculpture in the pic.
Well the building itself is under MAJOR renovations right now that looks closer to falling down than ever opening up, but regardless the memorial sculpture and text is important on its own and decently carved at that. Surprisingly quiet area too as compared to just a few blocks down
It was a little hard to find this, as the road there is being blocked right now for construction and repair. That said, the memorial was really informative and had a lot of info on the 7 year journey to get universal suffrage.
