Emerald Pool – A Jungle Swim Spot Near Krabi

This natural mineral pool is tucked away in the middle of the jungle, about 800 meters from the park entrance. It’s a well-managed area with lockers, restrooms, and benches if you just want to chill and enjoy the view.

The pool itself is a lovely emerald green and open for swimming, which makes it a refreshing stop on a hot day. However I got the feeling that the pool for swimming is manmade. It didn’t quite feel natural. It’s not the most mind-blowing spot, but if you’re into natural pools and want a dip in crystal-clear water surrounded by lush jungle, it’s a cool experience.

The area is part of a conservation zone, so expect a bit of a nature reserve vibe. For foreigners, there’s an entrance fee of 400 baht, and parking is just 20 baht. There are food and drink stalls around, and nearby showers are handy if you’re swimming. Just note that public restrooms outside charge a small fee too.

Overall, it’s a nice detour if you’re in the Krabi area and want a peaceful swim in a natural setting—but not necessarily a must-visit if you’re short on time.

Beautiful place, but disappointing experience with service and double standards

This spot truly shows both the beauty and the challenges of Thailand. Upon arrival, I was asked to pay 400 THB for entrance, while my Thai friend paid only 30 THB. I understand that dual pricing exists and I don’t mind supporting local tourism — but the difference felt excessive and unfair. Being a guest in this country shouldn’t mean being treated unequally.

After receiving our tickets, we stepped out briefly to grab a snack. When we returned, staff didn’t recognize us and asked us to pay again, despite showing our tickets. The way this was handled felt unprofessional and left a sour impression.

The place itself is beautiful, but unfortunately, the service and attitude overshadowed the experience. It was also very crowded with tourists, which made it harder to enjoy the natural charm.

Tips for future visitors:
•	Eat before you come. Outside food isn’t allowed and bags are checked upon entry.
•	There’s a small coffee shop inside offering drinks, and a mini grocery store with ice cream.
•	The toilet facilities are basic, with an open shower and no shelves. Bring your own towels — they are not provided.

This isn't Jiuzhaigou — it's the famous Emerald Pool in Krabi, Thailand. The entrance fee for foreigners is 400 baht per person. Its main attractions are the three-colored pools: Crystal Pool, Emerald Pool, and Blue Pool. The Blue Pool is the most natural and beautiful, well-preserved, and you can even see active thermal bubbles at the bottom. Highly recommended, especially for budget travelers like us — it's even cheaper than going to China!

If you happen to visit Krabi, this is a must-see attraction. Experiencing it in person is truly unforgettable and absolutely worth it.
