As Gateway of India is the main tourist spot, this place is overlooked. This garden which is located exactly opposite to Gateway of India gives a soothing shade to the onlookers. This statue speaks of the valour of Maharashtra’s Swaraj founder Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. You can enjoy a quite time looking at Gateway of India by sitting here. N no of food stalls are nearby.

‘Statue of Shivaji Maharaj’ is located just opposite the world famous Gateway of India in Mumbai. This monument stands in tribute to the great Maratha emperor and warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who laid the foundation of the Maratha Empire that rule much of modern day India until it’s final conquest by the British. The monument is an equestrian statue and depicts Shivaji Maharaj as a warrior armed with a round shield and sword. The monument stands in its own and is well maintained in small garden faces the Arabian Sea and its iconic neighbor the Gateway to India. This area is generally crowded and you will find people busy clicking photos and selfis all-around.

It’s a nice statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The only disappointment was that I couldn’t get close enough. Other fact is that people were so involved in looking at the British build Gateway that they forget to notice a figure that had a great historical impact on India. More must be done to make awareness and generate attraction to the statue.

One of the oldest Statue of Great Maratha King Shree Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Mumbai, This is made up of bronze and inaugurated by 1st Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and First Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shree Yashwantrao Chavan, in 1961. And today also after 64 years it is in best condition.

I sincerely hope our modern-day netas take inspiration from Shivaji Maharaj's life, not just in their speeches but in their actions too. We need leaders who embody his principles of Hindavi Swarajya and work tirelessly for the welfare of the people.
