Bastion Point is located in Mission Bay. The Hop on Hop Off Bus can take you there. I took the city bus so I had to walk uphill for about 20 minutes. It was worth it. I love the tree with the red flowers. New Zealanders call these there Christmas trees. There is a monument dedicated to Michael Savage who was the first Labour Party Prime Minister. I also went to a talk earlier in the week with a Maori representative who talked about the lands and tribes. There's a lot of history here, and it's beautiful. I spent about an hour walking the grounds, enjoying the views, and sitting in the gardens. There is no entry fee to visit Bastion Point. Highly recommend. If you go by city bus, there is a bus stop at the entrance.

It's a beautiful spot to not only walk around with stunning views looking out towards Waitemata Harbour, Okahu Bay, Devonprt, the city port, and Rangitoto just to name a few, but also to take photos with your family, friends or that special someone. With ample grassed areas it's the perfect place to have a picnic and parking isn't too difficult to find so you won't have any issues there. There are also public amenities as well as a walkway that leads to the Orākei Marae and another that snakes down to Mission Bay.

Absolutely stunning park like setting... with the historic and iconic Battle ground...perched perfectly to greet the sun in the mornings and gracefully releases the sun ? in the afternoons...a must visit. ..hated communities in the sovereign Orakei !

Lovely location with beautiful views. Fortunately saved from mass development by the Maori's. Unfortunately, we didn't stay long enough to fully appreciate it's beauty.
