One great thing about Singapore is that you can always find something interesting even in the unlikeliest of places. Book lovers, if you're looking for an interesting book or finding a cozy hideout for your quiet reading time, The Moon bookstore is where you should visit next! This whimsical spot might be located in the Chinatown, but it exudes a vibe that's different from most of the shops you'd usually find in the district.

The Moon is a bookstore, cafe and event space all in one! It highlights works by non-mainstream authors, with a focus on female writers and people of colour. The collection of books here might be small but you'll definitely find something that suits you from their unique range. From fiction and graphic novels to politics, poetry, cooking books and more. There's even a segment called Everything But The Kitchen Sink where you'd find books on various interesting themes ?

Not to mention that they also bring in new titles every now and then so you can always expect to find something new while you're here. The staff at The Moon are also super warm and helpful; they'll even help you if you're not sure what books to get!

For those of you who are finding books for your kids that are out of the ordinary, there also have a selection of colourful activity books as well as storybooks.

If you'd like to hang out with fellow bibliophiles at The Moon, there's a comfy and homely seating area on the second floor, complete with fairy lights. The cafe is located on the first floor if you need a quick pick-me-up. The Moon aims to be inclusive for everyone, and their cafe sells drinks, vegan/vegetarian-friendly toasts and a selection of pastries and cakes too.

Disclaimer: Although no alcohol or meat-based items are sold at the cafe, it is not halal-certified so we recommend that you dine at your own discretion. If in doubt, we advise that you seek other alternatives.
