That's right, the blokes behind local F&B powerhouse The Black Hole Group (the masterminds behind Tipo Pasta Bar and Éla) have revived this fan-favourite eatery at its original location on North Bridge Road.
Dropping their anchor on 8 May, the team has introduced a refreshed, hyper-focused concept inspired by retro marine diners and classic British seaside comfort food.
A Streamlined Menu of Golden, Crispy Perfection
Unlike their previous extensive menu, the reborn Mad Sailors keeps things beautifully simple, focusing heavily on doing one thing flawlessly: authentic British Fish and Chips. Everything is battered to order, and their signature chips are hand-cut and cooked three times for that ultimate fluffy-on-the-inside, crispy-on-the-outside perfection.
Take your pick between the two main stellar options:
- Hoke Fish and Chips ($15.90): A classic, comforting option fried to a beautiful golden hue.
- Halibut Fish and Chips ($18.90): For those who prefer a firmer, premium, and flaky fish texture.
Both are served with their delicious house-made tartar sauce that cuts through the richness beautifully.
Quirky British Sides & Nostalgic Treats
The menu doesn't stop at fish. To complete your British seaside feast, you can pair your mains with comforting sides like a warm bowl of Clam Chowder ($9.90), ultra-crispy Brussels Sprouts ($8.90), or a traditional Pickle Platter ($6.90) featuring briny gherkins, pickled onions, and quail eggs.
To wash it all down, you absolutely have to try their non-alcoholic Butter Beer ($8.90)—a whimsical butterscotch soda topped with a rich, velvety caramel cold foam. And if you have a sweet tooth, don't miss out on their indulgent deep-fried banana Mars bars topped with butterscotch cream!
The response since their reopening has been completely overwhelming, with long lines of nostalgic fans eager to get a taste. In fact, the team shared on Instagram that they've been selling out fast because everything is prepared completely fresh!
