I've been a fan of Takva ever since I heard of their Prayer Parka in February 2019. That was around the time I started my own journey of getting closer to Islam, and part of that included praying regularly. Just like many other Muslims, I ran into a problem - needing to do instinja while outside of the house, and not having a portable and convenient bidet to do it with! Istinja is an essential part of keeping yourself clean, especially if you intend to take wudhu (ablution) for prayer afterwards.
It’s not always easy to find a bidet wherever you go, especially when travelling! If you’re a traveller, you’ll probably know that it’s easy to find a bidet in Malaysia, Japan, or the Middle East - but not in Europe, South Korea, Taiwan, or even Singapore. Sometimes handicap-accessible toilets may have bidets, but I've always felt awkward using that option. Bringing a filled water bottle into the toilet with you can also get you curious or judgemental stares. And if you don’t have a bottle with you, needing to wet toilet paper or tissue paper and carry it back to the stall is just as awkward. ? Many plane or train toilets do not have bidets either - and they’re also usually quite small and narrow too!
P.S. As a bonus, using a bidet also helps save money as well as paper! If your resolution for 2020 is to be more eco-friendly and sustainable, a portable bidet is what you’ll need too!
So I’ve been searching for portable bidet options to bring along on the go. ?️♀️? I also kept a lookout for something smaller and more discreet to be able to travel easily with it.
I haven't found an option that I'm 100% satisfied with yet, but when I heard that Takva will be releasing theBidoo soon I felt pretty excited! ? Their designs are all simple and minimalist, while still being highly functional. Keep reading to see what features the Bidoo has that sets it apart from other options on the market - as well as how you can stand a chance to win a Bidoo of your own!
Takva's Bidoo comes with a universal nozzle that can plug into most PET bottles, and is even detachable so you can just slip it into your pocket if you're short on time and need to rush out the door.
The bottle has a sleek design, and they've done extensive testing so that it feels comfortable to squeeze and use. The feature I like the most so far is the leak-proof cap so you don't have to worry about any water spilling from the bottle as you go about your day (an issue I faced with previous options I’ve tried). ? If you're travelling, you also don't have to worry about a leaky bottle in your bag while hiking, trekking, or doing other adventurous activities!
You can even store the nozzle in the bottle to make it even sleeker to carry around. It looks just like a water bottle so it feels discreet! Perfect for fitting into tote bags, or even larger clutches or smaller backpacks. ? When you’re trying to travel light or stuff your week’s worth of essentials into a single carry-on bag, having something light and convenient like this makes it so much easier.
The Bidoo comes in 3 nature-inspired colours, and even the packaging is made from 100% biodegradable and compostable sugar cane bagasse. Takva currently has aLaunchgood campaign for the Bidoo, with several funding options ranging between USD5 (for a simple donation without purchase) to USD49 (which will get you 57% off 4 Bidoos with free shipping). The basic Bidoo currently costs USD14 as an early bird price, but a bundle of 2 costs just USD25 and a bundle of 4 costs USD47!
The campaign ends 1 April, with production taking place during May and fulfilment and shipping starting from September onwards. If you're interested in getting a Bidoo, why not gather some of your friends and pledge enough to get yourselves agroup discount! ? It'll definitely be a convenient and useful item to bring along with you - whether you're just going out with friends, or heading somewhere new for your next adventure!
