If you've ever looked for a restaurant in KL perfect for celebrating a special occasion, chances are you may have stumbled across Subak Restaurant before! Located in Bukit Lanjan amongst the lush jungle, Subak is a favourite for birthdays, special events, and of course, romantic dinners out with your sweetheart. If you've never heard of Subak before but are planning to surprise your significant other with a special meal, here's what you can look forward to! ?

P.S. Subak reopened for dine-in service from 10 June onwards - time to reserve your slot for an amazing dinner!

Subak's name actually comes from the water irrigation system in paddy fields in Bali, Indonesia. Inspired by the rich history of Balinese tradition, Subak's dishes include Malay, "Kampung Malay", and Western dishes that are a fusion of traditional favourites with a new and contemporary twist. ?

The first thing you'll notice is definitely the decor of the restaurant. Its wooden furniture is functional yet elegant, blending in with the greenery of its surroundings. You can even sit al fresco on their deck to enjoy the tranquil scenery while you dine! ? And of course, you can request to have your table and chairs decorated with lush rose petals if you're celebrating a special event.

Under the guidance of Chef Yusri, Subak only uses the freshest cuts of local and imported meat, poultry, and seafood to create its dishes. Its 2019/2020 menu was announced in September 2019 and includes dishes such as their signature Lamb Shank Masala (RM62) - a favourite since their opening in 2008! ?

They also have a selection of reimagined traditional dishes like their Gado Gado Ibu Yati (RM18; served with the chef's signature bumbu sauce), and Daging Batang Pinang Salai (RM36) using the finest smoked tenderloin. There's also their Traditional Kampung Set for 2 (RM115) that includes favourites like Soto Ayam or traditional Kueh.

Don't forget to try their Ling & Yang set for 2 (RM150), which includes a salad, soup, main course (a choice between grilled salmon, alfredo pasta, or grilled chicken thigh), and dessert! Just sit back, take the time to catch up with your darling, and wait for the excellent meal to be served to you. ?

If you're hoping to have a special evening out, Subak is definitely the place for you. ❤️ Time to treat your love to an amazing meal they deserve!
