This story about a staycation experience in KL is written by one of our contributors, Aini. Some parts of the article may have been edited for length and clarity.

I live in Bangi which I consider close to KL. I always go to KL to shop or to have a nice cup of coffee at a few cosy cafes. I never feel anything special when I’m in KL. So when my husband and I decided to play tourist and have a one night staycation in KL, we were surprised! We didn’t go to many places but we were able to experience the heart of KL! We had fun and we realised how beautiful KL is! Especially at night ?

Staying at The Majestic Hotel

The Majestic Hotel is suitable for couples who want to get away from busy life. The ambience was calm and very peaceful. The friendly and helpful staff were always there to fulfill all our needs. They also provided us with sanitizing wipes, which made me feel safe to stay there. Epsom salt was also provided in the bathroom if you want to relax your body in the tub! It was so nice to have one especially after a long and tiring day around KL ?

Here's a tip: please bring a nice dress for #ootd (outfit of the day) since the building is very Instagrammable!

We stayed in the Straits Room which is only RM315 with breakfast.

We had a semi-buffet breakfast at Colonial Cafe as there's no regular buffet due to the pandemic. The ingredients for the buffet breakfast are from halal-certified suppliers.

Spending our staycation in KL

First, we had breakfast at the Mansion Tea Stall at Jalan Masjid India. We had teh tarik (pulled tea), roti canai and roti banjir. All of them were sooo yummy! ? Then we planned to go to Bukit Nenas eco-park but the place was closed. Since we were there, we decided to go to KL Tower. The last time I went there was 20 years ago when I was only a kid. So it was like a new experience for me to be up there.

We paid for the Sky Box experience too which gave us a veryyyy nice view of KL from the top of the tower. The fee is RM36 (Adult)/RM18 (Adult) for those with MyKad as there's a 50% discount!

Since there were not many people around, we able to get a few nice shots at the skybox! So it was really the best part of the trip! I never thought that I could enjoy myself up there ?

At night, we had our dinner at Wanjo Nasi Lemak at Kampung Baru. The nasi lemak was delicious. There was a long queue but the service was amazing. We were able to have our nasi lemak in 5 minutes.

After that, we went to the Saloma Link for a night view of KLCC. The colourful lights definitely mesmerized me! I really underestimated KL. Hahaha. I never thought that KL could be this amazing!?
