Located in the tourist hotspot of Dongdaemun, Kyungdong 1960 is just one of the five Community Stores in South Korea. The new store has two floors and pays tribute to the old Kyungdong Theater, originally built in the 1960s, that has been lost since its closure in 1994. This outlet is dedicated towards restoring the long-standing heritage of the Kyungdong Market (one of the most iconic markets in the country), alongside the local community within the marketplace. ?

So what is a Community Store? Starbucks Korea’s has had an ongoing commitment to strengthening communities through the expansion of the Community Store program. Starbucks Korea’s ‘Kyungdong 1960’ Community Store will donate 300 Korean WON (approximately 32 cents SGD) for each item sold to restore and renovate the old market in Kyundong! Additionally, you can look forward to regular cultural and musical performances by local artists in the store which adds to a more unique experience.

The best part about this store is that it’s location is prime for shopping and entertainment so you don’t have to go out of your way to visit this outlet. You can simply drop by after a day out in town and grab a coffee to refuel your energy!
