While we wait for borders to reopen, one destination that we can’t wait to travel to is Turkey! Fortunately, you can still fuel your wanderlust by savouring halal Turkish food in Singapore. If you’re looking for an authentic and memorable Turkish meal, Sofra Turkish Cafe & Restaurant has to be on your list! With its wide selection of enticing Turkish dishes, you’ll definitely satisfy your cravings.

Established in Singapore in 1999, Sofra recently reopened its restaurant at Marina Square after its Shaw Towers outlet shut its doors. The restaurant has 20 years of experience and it promises you the most authentic Turkish experience. Their Chefs are from Hatay, a city in Turkey known for its gastronomical delights that has also been featured in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. At Sofra, immerse yourself in the restaurant’s Turkish ambience. Their decor, customer service and Turkish plates and cups are designed to transport you to Turkey.

For starters, Hummus is a must-try at any Turkish restaurant and Sofra is no exception! The Hummus at Sofra is made using mildly spiced chickpeas and tahini with olive oils and spices. It’s also served with a slice of warm Turkish bread so you can dip it into the hummus as a scrumptious appetiser!

Another dish that you shouldn’t miss is Sofra’s Jumbo Kebab. Consisting of Eggplant Kebab, Shish Kebab and Yaprak Doner (made from leg of a veal), this dish is perfect for those of you who are up for trying new things.

After you’re done with the mains, cap off your meal with Turkish tea or indulge yourself in kunefe, a popular Middle Eastern dessert. Consisting of baked kadaiff (fine spaghetti-like pastry), cheese and pure butter topped with ice-cream, this warm dessert will melt in your mouth and leave you wanting more!

If you’re thinking of heading to Sofra this weekend before Ramadan begins, you’d be happy to know that the restaurant has a Set Lunch Menu ($17.50++) where you can enjoy a two-course meal with options such as Red Lentil Soup or Salad and Yaprak Doner Rice or Pide. For early risers, you’ll want to try the Sofra Breakfast (10am-12pm on weekends) which has freshly baked bread, a cheese platter, 3 types of jam and more.

Even though you’re unable to travel to Turkey right now, Sofra brings the taste of Turkey to you instead. With delectable meat platters, Turkish bread and more, it’s one of the best spots in Singapore for Turkish cuisine! Let your fellow foodie friends know it’s time to plan a date to Sofra!
