Disappointing Experience at Duck Kitchen – Friday, 13 Dec 2024

Visited Batam with my family and decided to try this restaurant as we were looking for Chinese-style food. Duck Kitchen, located in the basement of the mall, seemed like a good option.

However, despite it being evening, the place was unusually quiet with no crowd, which should have been a red flag.

Given the name of the restaurant, we had to try their roast duck. There were three roasted ducks displayed, but they looked tiny and thin compared to the plump, flavorful ducks we're used to seeing in Singapore.

We ordered the roast duck, ribs, fish fillet, and fried lemon chicken. The roast duck was extremely disappointing—dry, bony, and barely had any meat. It was nowhere near the quality of the duck we enjoy back home.

The lemon chicken was another letdown, filled with bones and very little meat. We gave.

Food was good, fresh and not salty except for the deep fried enoki mushroom. It will be wonderful if they could offer b*er to go with the deep fried enoki mushroom but the restaurant is halal.
Whole grouper fish at 800g was only IDR288K. Hadn't seen the other fish at the tanks in front of the cashier so thot grouper was the only type available. Forgot to take photo as steamed fish is best eaten quickly.
Had a satisfying lunch despite some language barrier with the service crew.

We will never patronage them ever again. Everything is sold out, no stock and service is slow, so not sure why they are still open business when restaurant is

Bad. Slow service. Waited 30-45 mins for food to be served and it's not even full house. Ordered the Quarter Roasted Duck and the duck came burnt and hard. The rice was cold when the duck was served. Ordered the prawn wanton but got the chicken wanton instead. Prawn wanton is on promotion but maybe they tried to trick the customer by serving the chicken wanton instead. Informed the waitress on this but she replied that it's mixed chicken and prawn. We insisted for her to check and eventually were served prawn wanton. The Mango Pomelo Sago dessert is too watery. Can taste the blandness of water in the Mango Pomelo Sago. The Salted Egg Bun has a dried molten lava inside. Very dry and the molten lava is not even in liquid form. It seems they are skimping on the ingredients. Many other customers complaining too. Table 13 beside us even cancelled their order and left as they waited too long. Don't feel the Aircon in the restaurant. Feeling warm when eating. Bad experience. Don't blame the servers but all towards the executive chef for the poor planning.

Came here in the afternoon for lunch. The staffs were really attentive and food was awesome. They had a promotion for some of the items on the menu, hence, we tried the black pepper beef, fried fish fillet with garlic and salted egg prawn.
Ordered an additional kangkong belacan as well.
Food was really tasty and fresh.
A downside was the salted egg prawns, it was different as compared to the ones we ate in SG and the salted egg was not salty at all (Bland in fact).
Apart from that, everything was good!
Price was reasonable too! We had everything for less that 35SGD.
