Food served on a leaf is nothing uncommon. Some of our everyday favourite dishes like nasi lemak or pad thai are served on a leaf but did you know that now you can have your noodles with gravy in a leaf bowl too?? Credit: giphy Tucked away in a corner of Tampines is Pondok Daun Upeh, a hidden gem which serves noodles in a leaf bowl. You must be wondering, is that even possible? Yes it is! The leaf, called daun upeh, is folded like a sampan and noodles are served in it.

This delightful mix of flavours creates a tantalising blend of sweet and spicy?

This Muslim-owned stall sells a variety of other dishes too so even if you're not a fan of bone steak, don't worry! The Beef Hor Fun and Mee Bandung is also highly recommended (and yes, they are served in the daun opeh too?) In case you're wondering how to get to Pondok Daun Upeh, you can easily take the Downtown Line and alight at Tampines West MRT station. The eatery is just a five minute's walk away. So, there's no excuse not to go!
