A peaceful and quiet place to be.Mosque in an ancient chinese architecture building.

Looks like a Chinese temple but it's a mosque !

A great mosque with extremely big interior. It is said that this place was a place for Arab travelers and traders to stay and it was converted to a mosque. The interior resembles much to a Chinese Temple. It’s calligraphy of Quranic Verses on its pillars too is Chinese-like and if you look properly and could decipher, it is verses of Quran written from top to bottom. The prayer hall resembles a lot like Chinese Temple, with the ceiling, wall and pillars. Except that the roof design are without any animal like dragons, crane or birds. Instead, there are Arabic Calligraphy written. There are two halls for prayer. The outer hall is bigger and its upper half of the wall from right to left is filled with the carvings of the WHOLE QURAN from right to left and the bottom half of the wall is the Chinese Translation of the Quran. Met a Malaysian group going for hiking and met The Secretary General of Islamic Association there, Mr Hj Yahya Musa. I am so relieved that he could speak Arabic as the native there speak less English and I couldn’t understand Mandarin. Had a good time spent at the Mosque. The Azan was very peculiar Chinese tone like opera sing. Even the Imam recites in a very peculiar Chinese tone. Thanks to the mosque in giving Mr Chung Kwang Tong, head of the Quan Zhen Cultural Centre Singapore.

One of the oldest mosque in Xian. This is different from the Great mosque.
