You might have heard of Ayam Penyet before but have you heard of Ayam Geprek? It’s similar to Ayam Penyet but is WAY spicier and definitely a dish any spicer lover has to try at least once! ? If you’re wondering where to get it, look no further because Papa Ayam is the first halal Indonesian eatery in Singapore that offers Ayam Geprek - and they even have a spicy challenge for those who have the (literal) guts to stomach some serious heat. ?

The freshness of their ingredients is what sets Papa Ayam apart. Their signature Ayam Geprek Original ($6.90) is served with crispy fried boneless chicken hand-smashed using a mortar and pestle to give it a tender texture. Not only that, but their garlic sambal is hand-pounded to really bring out its powerful heat! You can even choose a spiciness level between 1-15 to suit your tastes. ? The dish comes with rice and a side of crispy kerupuk but you can add on crispy fried chicken skin for just 90 cents. Or top your chicken with melted mozzarella cheese for $2 to transform your dish into Ayam Geprek Cheesy ($8.90)! ? The mozzarella is lightly torched for a smoky flavour that brings out the pungent spiciness of the garlic even more.

P.S. If you think your stomach is strong enough, take on their WTF Challenge and see if you can survive the spice. The regular spice levels only go up to 15, but for this challenge, you’ll need to finish a plate of Level 27 Ayam Geprek in less than 5 minutes! ? If you manage to survive it, you’ll get an e-voucher worth $13.90 (the same amount you'll pay to enter this challenge) and your photo will be displayed on the Wall of Fame too! Please note that all challenges have to be booked one day in advance via Papa Ayam's Instagram page.

For something a little different, they have other versions using authentic Indonesian sambal that adds a unique spin to the dish. The Ayam Geprek Sambal Matah ($6.90) is made with raw sambal consisting of onion, lemongrass, chilli padi, and lime juice ? Whereas the Ayam Geprek Cabe Ijo ($6.90) uses green chilli to create a milder spice level that’s still sharp and layered.

And of course if you can’t decide what flavour of sambal to try, their Papa Ayam Platter ($35) lets you have a taste of everything! Perfect for 3-4 people to share, it includes Ayam Geprek Original, Ayam Geprek Sambal Matah, and Ayam Geprek Cabe Ijo, Indomie, rice, and their signature chicken Satay Taichan for a filling meal you won’t forget. ? It even has crispy chicken skin and kerupuk for a yummy crunch!

Have we convinced you to give Papa Ayam a try yet? ? If you can’t make it to their outlets in Orchard Road or Paya Lebar don’t worry because Papa Ayam has islandwide delivery! The delivery fee is just $9 for orders above $25, and $6 for orders above $50 - perfect for ordering a spicy feast for the whole family. ? The Papa Ayam Platter is even available for same-day delivery so what’re you waiting for? Time to get your spice on! ?
