There are plenty of halal burgers in KL and Selangor to choose from, so it can be pretty difficult for huge foodie lovers to make a choice. But if there’s one particular spot that has secured itself as a top favourite among locals, it would be Om Burger ?
Managed by owner Shahril and his son, make your way to their humble roadside stall that’s parked in front of a 7-Eleven. With more than 30 years of operation, the burger joint has gained a loyal following over time and up until today, you can still see people flocking to it especially during peak hours. So if you’re dropping by the stall for a midnight snack or even an hour before that, prepare to wait at least 15 to 20 minutes!
Fun fact: We’ve heard that local artists like Alif Satar and Norman Hakim have queued for a bite too ?
Popularly known for serving ‘burger sampah’ which translates to trash burger, the nickname comes from the way the burgers are sloppily made. Using meats like chicken, beef and lamb, Om Burger fries their patties in a pool of melted margarine and wraps them in cheese and fried egg. They’re then loaded with caramelized onions followed by a generous topping of ketchup and mayonnaise. Now if that doesn’t sound like the best cheat meal ever, we don’t know what else would ?
If you’ve got a bigger appetite, you’ve got to try their beef and chicken special. It comes with a crispy egg that’s wrapped over two patties, cheese and sauce. That’s double the grease, double the sloppy and of course, double the deliciousness! You’ll immediately forget how hungry you are after taking a bite out of their fresh-off-the-grill creation ?
So if you’re ready to dig into some wonderfully sloppy burger, then it’s high time that you pay a visit to Om Burger ?
