As lovers of sweet things, we're always on the lookout to add more spots to our list of halal dessert places in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Today, that's exactly what we'll be doing thanks to this new halal creamery called Oh Apong ?
Located in Kota Damansara, Oh Apong is a family-run cafe that made its debut earlier this year in May. The idea transpired when Ellyna Merican first discovered gula apong while on a business trip in Kuching with her family a year ago, according to Asia Tatler. Gula apong is a natural sweetener processed from the sap of the nipah palm and is used by the locals in many dishes and beverages.
Driven by the family's love of gula apong's sweet and salty taste, Ellyna's sister - Emylia, pitched an idea to open up a place that specializes in gula apong ice cream. Armed with a mission of bringing a unique treat to Kuala Lumpur, Oh Apong then came to be and has been serving mouthwatering desserts ever since its opening.
It goes without saying that the one thing you should from this halal creamery is the Signature Oh Apong ice cream. Topped with multi-grain cereal and a drizzle of gula apong syrup, this is the perfect dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings. You can also get other fun toppings too like coconut chips and freshly chopped mangoes.
Ice cream isn't the only thing that Oh Apong has to offer. From savoury pastries to sweet bakes like chocolate chip cookies, layered cakes and even lattes, there's plenty to try here! While dine-in may not be available at the moment, you can still pick-up your orders at the creamery or have them delivered right to your doorstep.
