“The buffet lunch at The Conservatory was fantastic! The seafood was fresh and there was a great selection. The roast meats and Indian dishes were very good. The sweets bar was excellent. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere was excellent with excellent views of the Yarra River. Five stars!” “Loved it!! Been to Melbourne many times but this time visited the Crown. Huge establishment, easy to get in as you don't need to sign in with lots and lots of machines. Highly recommended as there's lots to do and plenty of eating options”
“This is one of the two best hostels I've stayed at! The bunks are comfy and creak-free with privacy curtains and built-in lockers. There are universal sockets both in the bunks and the lockers, which was very thoughtful. The lounge area is spacious and social and has five privacy booths. Breakfast at the neighboring HOWM is excellent and can be purchased at booking. The place is very centrally located. The river, a subway station, and many nice restaurants are all a minute away. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Towels are US$4 and laundry is $8. There are some reviews on the lack of air conditioning, though I found that the fans (two ceiling fans and two huge standalone fans in an eight-person dorm) were good enough in March. I did not notice any noise issues either. You can pretty much walk to anywhere from the hostel and there is an abundance of food choices right out side the door. Staff are very friendly on arrival and a lot of seating scattered around the hostel so plenty of opportunities to chat to other travellers. All felt very safe and secure, 24/7 reception and they’ll give you a key card for the different floors, room and bathroom. Just try and not to loose the key card. Bathrooms were good, plenty of showers and sinks to use and not busy, I did find tho that the showers were on the colder side in the morning. Also they don’t provide any shampoo / conditioner, body wash or towels for free which can be a bummer. Beds were great, nice curtains that block the light when the room light is on, pretty much squeak free and plenty of extra space around the room to move and put your things. They have a light and world wide power point in the bed, also a massive storage box too that can be locked. You choose your bed when you get there so unless you’re early, you’ll probably be stuck with the top bunk. There’s not much ventilation in the rooms, in the colder nights it was fine but I don’t think I would like to sleep there in the summer. Plenty of room in the kitchen and lots of places to sit and eat, like a dining room there’s books and games and a good place to chill. Even has some sound free booths if you need to make a call. All around a very good experience, plenty of good people staying here, and the location itself is amazing.”
“Just finished a 2 night getaway at the Dorsett. This hotel is in a great location in the city, the train stations are easily accessible and there’s lots of places to visit and grab a bite to eat. First impressions were great, as you walk on the lobby there is a really nice scent throughout. All the furnishings feel luxurious. There is a self check in stand which seemed cool to use, unfortunately the room cards weren’t working so we had to get the staff at reception to do for us, a bit unfortunate. Breakfast is $30pp of pre booked on arrival and $39pp if not booked. The breakfast was nice however not too many staff for how busy it was in the morning at around 9am. The coffee machine needed to be emptied and no staff noticed, which caused a queue waiting for someone to fix, until we asked for help. I tried some scramble eggs and they were ok, nothing exceptional. There is a gym and swimming pool on the upper floors, I haven’t used them but had walked around and they look nice, the gym equipment is the same as my local gym which is nice. The service I would say is ok. Upon checking out the guy at reception helped us but there was no warm friendly service like thanking us for staying there etc. This would have made a difference. Overall a great stay but the lack of service makes me want to explore other options next time.” “I really wanted to love my stay at Dorsett Melbourne, but unfortunately, there were a number of issues that made it fall short of expectations for a 4-star hotel. The hotel itself is modern, has nice gold touches, and has a nice pool and hot tub area. The buffet breakfast offered pretty good , though the coffee was very bitter. However, there were several service and operational issues that affected our stay. My friend, who was staying with me, wasn’t allowed to check in before I arrived, which made things difficult (she asked if she could call me to verify her identity and they said no, that there was nothing they could do, so she had to wait over an 90 mins. I ended up calling and speaking to someone else who allowed me to add her name to the booking so she could check in but she had already waited a long time by then and I was almost there). We also weren’t allowed to use the facilities after checking out, which was a bit disappointing compared to other hotel experiences.. No explanation as to why, apology or other solutions (such as even paying to use them) was offered. Room service was a major frustration — we couldn’t order via the QR code (it kept giving an error), and multiple attempts to call reception from both the room and my mobile went unanswered. Eventually, I went downstairs to order in person, but the food took over an hour and didn’t arrive before we had to leave for a reservation. The room was fine overall (despite lacking much natural light and having an outlook at another building), but the beds and pillows weren’t very comfortable, and some basics were missing — no conditioner in the shower, and no hand soap by the sink (only shampoo was provided). There’s definitely potential here, but a few key improvements in service, communication, and amenities would make a big difference.”
“Room was dirty. Skirting boards had thick dust. Fridge was warm and they had left milk in it. Fridge had been replaced and cupboard was filthy. Lots of black dust. Our room was not serviced at all on our third days stay. Room was booked as king bed. On arrival room was twins. Had to be remade . We have stayed at Parkview on many previous occasions. Restaurant used to be fantastic. Now it’s extremely ordinary. Such a shame for a great location hotel We would love to come back but we need the same quality that was provided previously” “The room was adequate but had some drawbacks. The bathroom had poor lighting and no extractor fan. Th fridge was useless as it did not keep anything cold. The balcony furniture was really cheap quality. The bed was comfortable. Check in and checkout were quick. Any dealings with the staff were friendly. Located on the the tram line with easy access to city, St Kilda and beyond. Close to Alfred Hospital. Plenty of cafes in the area.”
“Melbourne’s Chinatown is a lively pocket of culture and flavor right in the city. The food is unbeatable—think juicy dumplings, sizzling noodles, and the most divine Peking duck I’ve ever had. Even the bubble tea shops are worth a stop. But it’s not just about eating. The streets are alive with history, glowing lanterns, and unique shops. During festivals like Lunar New Year, the energy is electric. Whether you’re there for the food or the vibe, Chinatown is a must-visit that stays with you long after you leave. Totally recommended if you’re visiting Melbourne. :)” “Easy to explore cause close to the free trams zone in the city centre. The streets are alive with history with many unique shops, wonderful food.”
“Modern shopping mall with branded stuff. You can find anything upon your request but little bit expensive and good quality. Even can find restaurants also to relax after doing shopping. Always crowded.” “Great shopping Centre. All sorts of fashion stores. Nice meal in their food hall upstairs. Fabulous choice of what you want to eat. Staff continuously clearing and cleaning tables and benches efficiently. Whole floor area pleasingly was very clean. Found food stall staff very friendly.”
“Food court has OK food, I have found it hard to find good vegetarian food there. The price of the food is on the high side. But I always can find a seat there. which is a good thing... There are random shops here and there... you really need to know what you want to go there for. I usually go to a bike shop there and/or walk cut the building to go to bourke street. There are toilets at the top floor with disability access ramp. The food court area has been renovated many times but I think the toilets are still the same.” “Unfortunately due to covid more than 50% of the food court is closed down. Very few people there, as my pictures show Regardless, it is nicely laid out with plenty of dining space”
“A very interesting experience and tour taking you through the history of Astronomy in Melbourne, in addition to seeing (relatively) nearby planets and constellations from the telescope. You of course need good weather, but it was really interesting nonetheless listening to the staff and seeing the various different telescopes at different sites. Very good tour and would highly recommend to occupy an evening!” “? went here yesterday, had a very fun, informative experience. The representative from the Astronomical Society was very wonderful, explained everything in a very enjoyable accessible manner and was open to questions from all. Would definitely recommend this experience to anyone interested in Astronomy and telescopes! ?”
“Located at 7 Riverside Quay, Southbank, Victoria, Australia ?? This is a wonderful place to get panoramic views over Melbourne City and on a clear day, beyond. I have been 3 times now, both at night and day and whatever time you come, the views are spectacular. The binoculars are a great way to see even further than your naked eye ?️ will allow. There’s a cafe to allow you to grab a drink and something to eat and enjoy the view. I recommend you book ahead online as you get 15% discount. Adults $39.60 Concession $31.90 Children (4-16 years) $26.40 Family (1 Adult, 2 Children) $75.90 Family (2 Adults, 1 Child) $86.90 Family (2 Adults, 2 Children) $108.90 Infant (0-3 years) $0.00 I did the Edge experience and I am not really sure it was worth the extra money. I like that there’s an area where you can go outside. The speed of the elevator ? going up and down is quite fast. Overall I found it was definitely worth coming to skydeck. Thumbs up!!! ???” “Its a must visit for anyone visiting Melbourne. I have been to Skydeck so many times and I love it every time. I love the view of Melbourne from here. I love the Edge experience, loved the balcony area. Best time to go is before sunset, so you can see the sunset from there. That’s one of my favourite things to do. The staff have always shown good customer service and are friendly.”
“Love the layout of the zoo! So easy to get around. Enough places to eat, sit down, plenty of bathrooms around as well. Very children friendly! There was a Carousel and face painting which are great for the little ones.” “Had an awesome day out at Melbourne zoo. Great place for the family! Managed to get round in 5 hours but even then we thought we moved fast. Would definitely recommend a two day visit if you want to read everything and enjoy it. Looking at getting the pass and also doing the camping under the stars! Will be back!”
“So much choice of shops. Most staff are very polite. The biggest problem are people who walk around looking at their phones and they walk into oncoming commuters.” “No Amenities, seriously NO TOILET . typical greedy , Inept business, only concern is profit”
