There's a mosque that has just opened near Japan's Mt Fuji at the Lake Kawaguchi area. In addition to the halal food options in Mt Fuji, we're super excited that Lake Kawaguchi's first mosque is now open and we're definitely saving it for our next visit!

The FujiKawaguchiko Masjid opened its doors on 8 November 2020 and the premise used to be an accommodation called the Capsule Inn Fujisan.

While there's not much information about the mosque, it seems that it's spacious enough to accommodate dozens of Muslims. We're hoping that in the future, it can also be a space for Muslims to hold congregational prayers in the Mt Fuji area. The mosque also has a halal food and cafe area for Muslim travellers.

FujiKawaguchiko Masjid is located just a few minutes' walk from the scenic Lake Kawaguchi and near the bridge that cuts across the lake. This means that after doing your prayers, you can just walk to the lake to catch a glimpse of the majestic Mt Fuji ?

For the uninitiated, Lake Kawaguchi is one of the popular lakes around Mt Fuji where you can admire the stunning mountain from different perspectives. The north shore of the lake has the best views of Mt Fuji and it's also a picturesque site to catch autumn leaves or cherry blossoms. On top of that, there are many amenities like bicycle rental services, convenience stores, hotels, resorts and more!
