Langkawi Ferry Service

Langkawi is an island situated off the state of Kedah in Malaysia. While some locals and travelers prefer the convenience of taking a flight to Langkawi International Airport, which is located on the island, others prefer the scenic route and take a road trip to the ferry terminals. Currently, there are three ways to travel to Langkawi Island from the mainland.

Getting from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi Island

If you're not driving, the first option is to take the ferry from Kuala Kedah jetty terminal (Jeti Kuala Kedah) to Kuah Jetty in Langkawi Island. Do note that this is a passengers-only ferry service.

How to get to Kuala Kedah jetty terminal:

  • By train: Take the ETS train from KL Sentral to Alor Setar train station. Then, take a taxi or Grab ride to Kuala Kedah jetty terminal

Getting from Kuala Perlis to Kuah Jetty, Langkawi Island

If you're not driving, the second option is to take the ferry from Kuala Perlis ferry terminal to Kuah Jetty in Langkawi Island. Do note that this is a passengers-only ferry service.

How to get to Kuala Perlis ferry terminal

  • By train: Take the ETS train from KL Sentral to Padang Arau train station. Then, take a taxi or Grab ride to Kuala Perlis ferry terminal
  • By bus: Take the bus to Kuala Perlis bus station. Then, walk for 6 minutes to Kuala Perlis ferry terminal

Getting from Kuala Perlis to Tanjung Lembong Port, Langkawi Island

If you're driving, the third option is to take the ferry from Kuala Perlis Jetty to Tanjung Lembong Port in Langkawi Island. This is the only ferry service that transports cars (with passengers) to Langkawi.
