This island happens to be Thailand's second-largest and sits within the Gulf of Thailand (vs. Phuket and Krabi, which face the Andaman Sea).

If you're looking for something located in a quieter area of Chaweng Beach, Bhundhari Resort can provide a tranquil Koh Samui retreat. The resort is located on the northern side of Chaweng Beach, about 10-minute drive from the heart of town.
