KAITO: The Halal Japanese Fusion Restaurant Perfect For Your Next Date Night

Japan has opened its borders to foreign travellers but if you can’t afford to fly to Japan right now to satisfy your cravings for Japanese food, no worries! Head over to KAITO at Glo Damansara in TTDI where they serve modern-fusion Japanese food. The restaurant is also Muslim-owned so you can be assured that it’s halal AND delicious. We had the chance to try out a few dishes recently and if you wanna know if it’s worth it or now, read on further!

The ambience

Walking into the restaurant we’re instantly impressed with the decor. The modern contemporary interior gives off a welcoming vibe and it’s definitely a perfect place to bring your loved one for a romantic dinner! There are also private dining rooms if you have a big group.

What about the food?

Each plate is thoughtfully curated to ensure the perfect taste, presentation and freshness. It’s definitely a more refined dining experience but you get your money's worth as the dishes are freshly prepared and of premium quality.

What we had at KAITO 

Salmon Aburi Salad (RM38)

Even if you’re not a salad person, this should be a must-try! A hearty bowl of mixed greens, chopped okra, sweet strawberries and avocado is topped with torched salmon sashimi and drenched in special KAITO vinaigrette. It’s bursting with flavours and makes a great appetiser!

Salmon Kombujime Carpaccio (RM58)

A fan of salmon? Then try the Salmon Kombujime Carpaccio! Thin slices of salmon sashimi are wrapped around the sushi rice and topped with ikura, caviar, and pesto and drizzled with wasabi mayo and yuzu ponzu. It’s an explosion of flavours and we certainly needed more!

Sushi platter (Price starts from RM7)

What’s a meal at a Japanese restaurant without sushi, amirite? For the next round, we had a sushi platter comprising different types of sushi. From left to right, we had the Hon Maguro Akami (bluefin tuna meat), Kanpachi (amberjack), Salmon Belly, Ebi, Hotate Gai (Japanese scallop) and Tobikko (flying fish roe). The sushi platter is great as you can try the different sushi and we loved how each sushi is carefully plated. It’s such a beautiful way to dine and you can tell that the chef put a lot of thought into his creations!

Gyu Asparagus (RM48)

Now that you’ve had enough salmon and sushi, try out the Gyu Asparagus. Asparagus is wrapped with pan-seared sirloin beef and drizzled with truffle vinaigrette and teriyaki sauce. A truly marvellous creation! This was one of our favourites!

Crab Pasta (RM68)

For something heavier, we highly recommend the Crab Pasta! It has also been Malaysianised with creamy salted egg sauce, soft shell crab tobiko, cili padi, shredded curry leaves and drizzled with teriyaki sauce. We loved how the creamy salted egg sauce is light so you won’t feel too heavy after eating it!

Reasons to visit KAITO

While the prices may be on the higher side, you’ll get your money’s worth as the dishes are thoughtfully prepared, the ingredients are premium and taste delicious! It’s definitely a place where you go to celebrate a special occasion.
