Have you been dreaming of a European vacation, only to put off planning for it for whatever reason? Well, you best take advantage of the flash airfare sales now, because you may never see those prices again next year! 😆
Travel prices are expected to rise by at least 3.8% worldwide in 2018, according to the latest Global Travel Forecast by the Global Business Travel Association. This rise in costs are linked to greater uneasiness about safety, and unpredictable political environments that travellers now have to take into account. On the brighter side, the higher prices also indicate a stronger global economy, and growing demand for travel.

While airfare increases are expected all over the world, the rises in cost will vary according to region and country. Steep increases are projected for Europe, with a 5.5% increase for Western Europe countries (e.g. France, Spain, Italy, Germany and United Kingdom), and a sharp 7.1% increase in airfares to countries in Eastern Europe countries (e.g. Russia, Croatia and Poland). Meanwhile, costs of ground transportation such as buses, taxis and trains will only increase by 0.6% worldwide.
In case you need more convincing on booking your hotel stays too- a 6% increase in hotel prices are projected across Europe, with a 3.7% rise in hotel prices around the world! 😱 A whopping 11.9% increase is projected for hotel stays in Eastern Europe, which doesn’t come as a surprise with the World Cup taking place in Russia next year.
Travelling just got more expensive, but there is a silver lining in this dark cloud. You can enjoy upgrades in amenities on your holiday as hotels provide greater entertainment options and adopt smart technologies to make checking in and out more convenient than before 😌 What’s more, you can look forward to perks when you fly as airlines are expected to offer more services to pamper their customers 😍
