Shanghai Chenghuang Temple (上海城隍庙) requires an entrance fee of 10 CNY, which can be purchased directly at the gate. The temple is filled with devotees praying for health, wealth, good fortune, love, and success. Upon entry, each visitor is given three joss sticks to offer their prayers. The atmosphere is serene yet vibrant, with the scent of incense filling the air and centuries-old architecture surrounding you. Whether you are there to pray or simply to observe, it is a meaningful cultural experience.

Shanghai Chenghuang Temple is a interesting place to visit. It is Taoist temple. People of faith came here but many of them were tourists like us as well. Can get busy as well. We were visiting the Shanghai Old Street and found this temple. It is worth a visit if you are in this area.

A very lovely place of worship, as a tourist, please make sure that you’re not invading the privacy or disturbing the rituals of the devotee’s present there. Please make sure not enter into the various temple premises without seeking permission of the concerned authorities. All in all a very beautiful place where you get to see a glimpse of traditional chinese religion. The temple is near a very beautiful palace/garden. The whole of area is surrounded by a very big bazar. Do try the humongous mangoes they sell right outside the temple, very tasty indeed
