Masjid Assyafaah is part of Sembawang's rich Islamic history whereby it now serves as the Muslim community prayer venue for the area of Sembawang. The mosque was constructed with a futuristic influence with motifs of Islamic design incorporated into the overall look. The concentric semi-circle is used in making the supporting pillars at the entrance of the prayer hall which is very immersive. The journey to its completed construction in 2004 began as a small congregation place known as Masjid Jumah Sembawang Road which was built in 1920 by a group of Indian Muslims. Eventually, this was joined by the 1968-built Masjid Naval Base Sembawang which came with the efforts of former staff at Sembawang Naval Base. This mosque is served by buses 856 and 981 originating from Sembawang, Woodlands and Yishun respectively. The nearest bus stops are along Canberra Road (After Assyafaah Mosque). Assyafaah is the Arabic Base word for 'intercession' or mediation
