I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration over an extremely unpleasant encounter at your Arab Street outlet. As a paying customer, I expected basic courtesy and professionalism, but instead, I was met with condescension and disrespect from one of your senior staff members.

I had visited the store to inquire about a possible exchange for a dress I had recently purchased, as I noticed a discolored section on it. A senior Malay saleswoman assisted me by showing other pieces, but all of them appeared to have similar defects. While I was quietly and patiently inspecting the dresses to find a suitable replacement, she grew visibly irritated. She made unnecessary remarks such as “no other customers come and say our clothes are defective,” which was completely unprovoked, as I had not made any accusations—only calmly examined the items.

Suddenly, she took out $140 in cash (despite my original purchase being $139) and held it in her hand, repeatedly telling me to take it and go buy from other shops. I was shocked, as I had never asked for a refund, nor did I show any interest in receiving one. The way she implied that she was giving me “more” than what I paid, as if doing me a favor, was not only offensive but deeply disrespectful. Her words and tone clearly indicated she wanted me to leave her store, as though my presence was a burden.

What made the situation worse was that this all happened in front of other customers. I felt humiliated and singled out despite having done absolutely nothing to deserve such treatment. I remained silent and composed throughout, not because I agreed with her behavior, but because I chose to respect her age and because we are in the holy month of Ramadan—a time when we are taught to show patience, kindness, and humility.

However, age and fasting are no excuse for arrogance, hostility, and belittling others. Her repeated statements about being “busy” were unnecessary, as I was not bothering her—I was simply browsing the items in peace like any other customer. If the store cannot handle customers properly during busy seasons, that burden should not fall on those who walk in to shop.

If there is a certain type of customer your business prefers to serve, then perhaps that should be stated upfront. No one should have to endure such degrading treatment when there are countless other shops that offer both quality products and respectful service.

In the end, I just want to say this: No one should let pride, ego, or status take over their character, especially during a sacred month. This kind of behavior is not only unprofessional—it is a clear example of what happens when one lacks fear of Allah (SWT). He does not tolerate arrogance and injustice, and the way I was treated will not go unseen by Him. To hurt and humiliate someone so needlessly is a heavy matter, and I sincerely pray that Allah brings justice where it is due and teaches us all to act with humility, decency, and fairness in all that we do—especially in our dealings with others.

I’m giving 1 star for the design of the clothes. It was surprising that they didn’t have individual sizes available for each set. I intended to purchase a baju kurung, but they only had the XL sample available, so I had to settle and trust the process. I was told it wasn’t fair to let customers try on new pieces because others might not want to buy clothes that have been tried on, which felt odd. Additionally, the makcik at the store was overly pushy and insisted I purchase the dress, showing a lack of customer service skills. When I was trying on another set of clothes, I asked if it was an S size, as I can’t wear S. The makcik loudly commented that I couldn’t wear an S, repeatedly saying how it wouldn’t fit me. This lack of understanding and poor customer service left a negative impression. While the clothes themselves were beautiful, the service was disappointing. Rather, it felt very rushing and stressful to shop here. I would recommend shopping at a different store instead.

the WORST most DISGUSTING service i’ve ever experienced. I’m disgusted at the characters of their staff. Came for an exchange after 2 days of my receipt, due to their weird clothes sizing, and i needed to exchange for a smaller size (they don’t even have a proper fitting room in the first place, ladies openly change in the store which is obviously INDECENT since they’re selling conservative muslimah clothes but i guess they don’t care about that). The staff was sarcastic and rude, and rejected the exchange because it isn’t “fair” to other customers????? I’m confused, why isn’t that not fair? My first and last purchase and will definitely be sharing my experience to others. Absolutely disgusted. If i could give a zero rating, i would lol

It all started when i came down to buy my engagement dress, the first experience was at Twilight fest. The staff recommended that i should get a 3XL, but in my opinion, is the cutting that small or am i that big? I always wear an XL. Ofcourse i had to trust the sales staff because they should know their product best for their customers. So i decided to get the piece but of course i had to check the item when they gave a new piece because im getting it for my engagement of course i need the dress to be in good condition. So checking every pieces that they gave every one of them had defect either Ink dots or there were minor defects on the sewing. There was another staff (particularly a skinny malay makcik wear specs NOT the ladies who look mixed blood ya) who was just watching and giving me some black face and making comments like these are just very small defects. Well i paid over $100 for this dress and i believe i have the right to get this item back in a good condition, no? So finally she had given me one in a good piece and so i left. Another experience, i came to this store at arab street, having the intention to find accessories to match the dress, but i shouldve known they didnt carry any accessories so its not a problem but the lady who approached me was nice enough to assist me and i told her that actually the size is too big and ive gotten it from twilight, she was genuinely nice enough to allow me to exchange to a smaller size. Now, the same thing happen, after every new piece shed given me i check every single one of them had same defects. Of course i am not happy abt this at all how can u sell defected products to ur customers at retail price ? Then the skinny makcik was there again , she stared and gave me the black face and her staff was trying to lighten the whole vibe of the situation by asking her colleague (the makcik) that the stain wasnt that bad like its not that obvious right? , the makcik gave a reply & she was being sarcastic about the defect, "mane nampak pape tak nampak pape pon" wow really her whole tone was rude, just pure rude. So i rather not waste anymore of my breath and time here i left with the defective piece. This is my first buy and believe me its my last. $129 for defective piece + the worst service. The other staffs was fine the makcik ruined my whole experience la tbh. She shouldnt work in a customer service line if she hates customers or hates assisting them. (Ps stain is still there even after washing)

Poor service from staff to the owner and the incharge. Outright rude, staff gave me a put off vibe and look at diff customers in judgemental way. We as customer will not patron your store again. Design wise is mediocre, u can get similar designs elsewhere with better service
