If you must eat halal and want to try the Cantonese roasted goose, this is definitely the place for it. However, if you don’t need to eat halal you can easily find better non halal roasted goose somewhere else. The curry is also good but portion is small if you order them as rice plate. Service is friendly and prompt. Seating is tight and uncomfortable but that is just typical daipaidong setting.
Came here with high expectations, which were definitely met. Certainly the best duck rice I've had so far in my life. The duck, though a little tough on some parts, were juicy and rich in flavour. The skin had a perfect crisp on the outer layer, but a nice fatty and soft texture on the inner layer. The sauce that came with the duck was a little oily but very rich and balanced (both sweet and salty) in its taste. The mutton curry was unfortunately sold out when we came, so we also ordered the beef curry instead. Beef fell right off the bone and the curry was thick, heavy, a little spicy but very tasty. Brought more to take away home. This was the last place on my HK itinerary (managed to perfectly slot it in for a 15 min meal before my night cruise). I was most curious on this place and insistent on trying it while I'm in HK. Absolutely no regrets - Wai Kee is definitely a place all tourists, both muslims and non-muslims (saw a couple non-muslim local broadcasters recording a video at the place). I will definitely come back when the chance arises.
Definitely one of the best chicken rice and curry. Never left HK without trying their chicken rice. Just feel a lil bit pricey but will forget about it after you start dig'in...
lots of respect for the amount of meat they put in here! plus the skin and soup broth has decent flavour. rice noodles were a bit weak and did not fill up at all, and it would be better if they added more vegetables. 45-50 HKD
It’s another one of those local gems that has been in business and crowded every day of the year. We’ve been here late and food was sold out by late afternoon. Consistently good halal curry chicken, beef and lamb. They also have roast duck and a few local specialty side dish. However it’ll be packed at lunch time so make sure you come before or after that. BTW it is in the food court of a wet market building.
