377 & 378, Jalan Melaka Raya 6, Taman Melaka Raya, 75000 Melaka, Malaysia
Queued for more than an hour to get seated. Pre-order when queueing. Once seated, waited for another 30 minutes plus for food to be served for eating. Comfortably clean dining atmosphere with comfortably cool aircon this round eating here on 19/4/2025 compared to many years ago. But this bill came at almost RM1.2K for 6 pax. 6 dishes 7 rice no wet tissue and Chinese tea. The food overall - 7/10. Honest - The taste missing the wow factor! But the freshness of ingredients such as fish, crab, scallop, asparagus, kailan and etc is 9.5/10. The crab claws/overall size is XXL. These are pointers in my head now, just had it about 3 hours plus ago.
Highly recommended to make reservations (for dinner) as this place is always crowded and packed! They only do walk-ins for lunch. I came for lunch and found the wait for be lesser (thankfully) than dinner previously. All the dishes ordered were delicious and the crabs (must order) are so fresh and sweet! Personally, we all preferred the salt baked one! You can taste the charring taste and natural sweetness of the crab! Plus, it’s easier to crack it/ hammer it! The milk crab is good too, but it’s abit more messy when hammering it. But the sauce is good with Man Tou! The Prawn Bee Hoon was also a must-order! We had 4 ppl and we devoured it within 10 mins ? Toilets are clean and the place being air conditioned are plus points too. All in all a good experience ??
The day I went was a weekday around 8pm so I didn't have to wait for a table. The food came out pretty quickly, each dish was a lot, the crab dish was great. I ordered 2 small crabs but when they came out they were 2 very big crabs, each about 700gr to 800gr. Will come back when I have the chance.
Their signature dish - Prawn with Beehoon is a must try. The huge prawns are succulent and sweet. Sauce for the beehoon is savoury and delicious. The recommend on their menu is milk flavoured crabs. It has a slight sour taste which was not to my liking. But crabs are fresh. Reservation is a must to avoid the long queue at the door, which can be done easily on the website. Price point wise for the crabs seems on the higher side.
Definitely a spot that draws the tourist crowd — none of my local Melaka friends ever recommended it. That said, we were nearby and noticed a queue forming even before the place opened at 5.30 pm. We joined the line around 5.20 pm and managed to get a table when they opened. However, the food took quite a while to arrive, even though the restaurant wasn’t full by 6.07 pm (see photos). Some customers who were seated early but placed their orders later than us mentioned they were the 20-something-th table and eventually left before their food was served. We ordered shortly after sitting down at about 5.35 pm, but only got our first dish — the signature Cheesy Prawn Meehun — at 6.11 pm, with the rest of the food arriving by 6.15 pm. That’s a 40-minute wait. Now, onto the food — it was good and reasonably priced. As someone who doesn’t take cheese, I was relieved that the Cheesy Prawn Meehun tasted more milky than cheesy, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The 四大天王 (Four Heavenly Kings) here is different from the ones I’ve had in Singapore — they used flat beans instead of stink beans, and added crispy pork lard and ikan bilis. Still tasty and satisfying! I was pleasantly surprised by the 桂花炒蛋 (Osmanthus Egg) — fragrant with what seemed like a splash of cooking wine, and packed with generous chunks of crab meat. If you’re not in a rush and don’t mind the wait, this place is worth a try. But if you’re starving… maybe try somewhere else first — or bring snacks for the queue!
