When we were going through Lunar New Year celebrations at Town Hall, we wanted to try something new and came upon Masala Kitchen near Pitt street.. easy walk from station it has ample space to sit both outside and indoors. I quite liked the liveliness of the place as well as the great service experience we had. The decor inside was really good, however we felt the menu should be reprinted.. seemed quite worn out. An uplift on the tables, plates will certainly uplift try e experience at the place. Let’s talk about food.. we ordered paneer chilli and Soya Chaap Masala along with Naan and pea pilaf.. to be honest everything tasted great. Especially soya masala was really really good.. the wait time wasn’t too much after we ordered the food and they kept checking on us all f we needed something. Overall great experience and will definitely come back again !
The vegan thali was fabulous except it is missing a few items - no raita, no dessert and no explanations. I went two days because the first thali was pretty good (although it was only a dhal and a chana and another chana with chilli). The second time I could tell it was inconvenient - the pappadums were powdery, the curries were different but not so hot and there was no tomato. The service is bordering on ok. They don’t open at 1100, or they do but the waiter begrudges your appearance at that time. I can’t decide why he’s so miffed when you appear at 1100 or tells you it’s a long time for a vegan thali. The kitchen looks clean, organised and well labelled. It is worked by women and seems great. I was really pleased to see such a professionally run kitchen.
Been here a couple times and the food is always very flavourful and has a unique taste. I highly recommend the masala dosa as it is extremely fresh and every part of it is enjoyable. The service is quick and they are very attentive, it’s always a great experience here with many amazing dishes to choose from.
I came here for a late dinner. Their Thali set must be popular as it had run out. Tried lamb in rolled dosa and underestimated its chunkiness which fills up. I saw the next table trying out a Puri meal set which could be a next thing to try.
We ordered Chicken Biryani and Lamb Skewers, everything was perfect. And the staff is very well prepared. Can't wait to get back here soon.
