ถ. นิพัทธ์สงเคราะห์ 1 Hat Yai, Hat Yai District, Songkhla 90110, Thailand
I got recommended this place by the locals, and it exceeded my expectations. The tom yum was perfectly sour and a bit spicy, but the star was the lemon fish so fresh and the lemon made it the perfect balance of salty and fresh. Some of the workers can speak Malay, it’s affordable, and it’s halal too!
A truly thai gems offering thai food in comfortable and inviting settings. Ingredients are fresh and foods and with exceptional quality. The staffs are helpful and friendly. Some of the staffs able to speak malay hence ordering foods not an issue, you can always speak english anyways. Came here during dinner when it was almost closing time. Ordered Harimau Menangis, Man Pla Fish, Tom Yam Gung and few other dishes i forgot the name. Parked at the roadside, walk about 2-5 mins to the restaurant. *Washroom dedicated to Kak Sah customers are available opposite the restaurant ( need to cross the mainroad, beside a laundy services outlet) Will definitely come again.
Overall, the food here is good! For those trying it for the first time, I recommend ordering the ‘lidah masak merah’, ‘perut bakar’, ‘ikan stim limau’, ‘daging bakar’, and ‘sambal belacan’. Delicious! But you need to have dinner earlier because the seats are limited.
The dish with the namesake of the restaurant, "miang pla pao" or (salt) grilled fish is fresh and tender, delicious with the accompanying seafood dip sauce. But my favourite is the ยำปลาดุกฟู yum pla duk fu (crispy catfish somtum) that is something unique for somtum lovers as the sweet and sour flavours are enhanced by the crispy fried fish floss Also recommended is the grilled beef slices Went for lunch at 12.45pm on a Sunday. Place was empty but filled up within the next 30-45minutes. Quite hot during the day.
