A lovely place for cakes and tea. Tried the carrot cake. The cheese frosting was great and not overly sweet. The cake has generous amounts of carrots and walnut. I would consider their carrot cake as very good. Highly recommended ?

It’s been a while since we visited Gula Cakery. The ambience is still nice, and the foods are delicious. I love the variety of their cakes especially their cheese cakes, and so do my children.

Previously, it was very child-friendly—they used to have a small play area for kids. But now, it’s no longer there. Still, the ambience and environment remain suitable for families ?

Over-priced

We visited this dessert shop for the second time last week, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience.

Last year, when we first came with a friend, the waffle was served with ice cream, sauce, and cookie crumble. This time, when we asked about toppings, the staff insisted that waffles only come with ice cream and no toppings at all. Even after we mentioned our previous visit, she continued to say the same.

After waiting 20 minutes, she informed us that our chosen ice cream flavor was unavailable, adding another delay. In total, we waited 35 minutes for our waffle, despite the shop being empty. When it finally arrived, it was drenched in raspberry sauce, making it overwhelmingly sweet and unpleasant to eat.

A few things could improve the experience:
1.	Staff should be well-informed about the menu.
2.	A clear menu showing how each waffle is served.
3.	Sauce should be served on the side so customers can adjust to their taste.

Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the waffle at all, and the long wait made it worse.

Gula Cakery is a must visit destination, especially for dessert lovers. I came here after seeing the coverage on Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan, and it turned out to be a very satisfying experience. The three desserts I tried are Pandan Gula Melaka, Burn Cheese Cake, and Berry Pavlova were all amazing. The Pandan Gula Melaka gave off a rich and aromatic flavor, with the perfect combination of sweetness and pandan fragrance. The Burn Cheese Cake, on the other hand, had a soft texture and a balanced cheese flavor, not too heavy but satisfying enough. The Berry Pavlova was refreshing with the acidity of the berries that blended beautifully with the softness of the meringue and cream.

Aside from the food, the atmosphere inside the cafe was also very pleasant, calm and cozy, which made me feel like I was staying there for a long time. The staff and manager were very friendly, making sure every customer felt appreciated and greeted with a smile. The overall experience made me look forward to coming back and trying more of their menu in the future. The delicious food, friendly service, and peaceful atmosphere make Gula Cakery truly worth a visit.
