Overall experience was good. Most of the dishes were hits. We especially loved the tung hoon. Staff were very helpful as well, we had 6 and they helped to make adjustments to accommodate us. Rice was also yummy and they were happy to help customers get more free flow rice. As mentioned by others, food can be quite oily, but we loved the reasonable prices. Take note though that at this price, please collect your food by yourself and return the tray after you are done eating. We also will skip the big picture beef next time, did not really suit our family taste buds. Seating can be limited, but the wait was not too long. Given that this stall opposite yoshi change so many times, I think this place likely to survive. I don't know how helpful the feedback is given that the responses seem to be AI generated, but we'll you come to your own conclusions I guess. I wonder how the other customer in the other review realized that the food was likely pre cooked and probably microwaved or something rather than freshly cooked to order. If you figured that out please let me know

Value for money! Portion is great! Delicious and spiciness is just nice! Eventhought sweating at the end… The mala chicken 辣子鸡 is really good! The chicken meat is of decent size and really crispy on the outside. I love china food and this is honestly pretty good. The cabbage however lacks some flavour. Steam egg is not bad and the saliva chicken 口水鸡is really yummy! The cucumber is crunchy and the flavour is on point! The right amount of vinegar in this dish 😋 will come back!

The only complaint I got about this place is its proximity to the entrance of the drop-off/pick-up area, the air-conditioning isn't very strong making for a slightly warm dining area. Other than that, the food here is fantastic value. I tried the DeliBowl at Selatar Mall, and its branch here at Compass One has been renamed to First Bowl, menu is still the same though. We ordered two different dishes today, a Claypot Chicken Hotpot that was surprisingly good, tasting more like Mala Xiang Guo with a good dose of heat and numbingness, the chicken inside was pre-fried before being added into the claypot giving the poultry a smoky crisp outer layer while the meat inside remained juicy and tender. The combo of lotus root, green pepper, onions, cauliflower and peanuts sealed the deal. Our other dish was Honey Chicken, to mitigate the sweetness, do drizzle the lemon supplied and the 3 drumlets are elevated from average to pretty good. This was the perfect contrast to the fiery Hotpot. With the heat, the stir-fried cabbage and ice lemon tea were the perfect foil to douse the flames. Overall, for the price this is extremely good value, though I wish the honey chicken had another 1 or 2 more drummers.

Went to First Bowl 壹碗 @ Compass One for lunch and tried their Sour Soup Fish Set 酸汤鱼片套餐. 🍲🐟 The set comes with Sour Soup Fish, Fuzhu Salad (凉拌腐竹), Homemade Lemon Tea, and a bowl of Japanese rice. We also added a side of Di San Xian 地三鲜 (fried potato, eggplant & long beans). The fried vegetables were flavourful (a little oily), but honestly went really well with the rice. The sour soup fish was appetising and comforting, but do watch out for the pepper bits — they can be quite spicy. 🌶️ My SO especially loved the lemon tea, which was thick and not diluted — very refreshing. One good thing about this place is that it’s self-service, so no service charge, plus there’s free flow Japanese rice and pickled vegetables, which is a nice bonus. A couple of downsides though — the ordering system requires logging into their website and entering card details, which may not be for everyone (I opted to pay via their terminal instead). Also, the space is quite narrow, so do be careful when moving around. Overall, a decent and value-for-money spot if you’re craving something hearty and sour-spicy. 👍 #FirstBowl #CompassOne #SourSoupFish #酸汤鱼 #SGFoodies #SingaporeEats #FoodieSG #ChineseFoodSG #ComfortFood #SpicyFoodLovers #SetMeal #InstaFoodSG #FoodReview #AffordableEats #mealsphotos @firstbowlsg

I’ve ordered takeaway here a few times, and the food and service have always been consistently good. However, I noticed that the background on the TV display seems to have been changed recently, making the queue numbers quite difficult to see. Perhaps the management could look into improving the visibility of the display.
